James Wolpert gave it his all last night on The Voice — and we sure hope his all was enough! Unfortunately, the charming singer may be at the mercy of the alleged Twitter save curse, which was responsible for the unfortunate decimation of Caroline Pennell, Matthew Shuler and Kat Robichaud. Can James break the curse and move on to the final round?
Last week, we were relieved to see James Wolpert spared by his fans on Twitter after landing precariously close to an instant elimination. Unfortunately, that supposed blessing could turn out to be the singer’s worst nightmare, as many a predecessor has been cut just one week after experiencing social media redemption.
Chatting with Today after the live semi-finals round, James said he was eager to buck the unfortunate trend. “It’s like the curse of the Twitter save. You’re kind of, like, slated for elimination. You get the axe a week later. Who wouldn’t be nervous?”
And it’s not just the big, bad Twitter curse potentially holding James Wolpert back. The contestant also battled a nasty cold, which left him unable to perform at peak level. But never one for excuses, James explained that his close call forced him to work that much harder in rehearsals. “I made sure that I was taking care of myself. I took extra care to make sure that my voice was in good condition.”
Ultimately, James was happy with the results. We hope he’ll be able to say the same this time next week! Check out his rendition of With Or Without You and let us know what you think!
