Last night’s episode of The Voice was certainly a dramatic one, with two of the five semi-finalists sent packing. Fortunately, we received a few welcome breaks from all the elimination tension — including a wonderful performance from former season three champion Cassadee Pope!
Cassadee Pope has certainly made a name for herself since her time on The Voice, having debuted the solo country album Frame By Frame two months ago. Last night, the singer returned to her reality television alma matter, entertaining the audience with an impressive rendition of her new single I Wish I Could Break Your Heart.
Prior to her big return, Cassadee teased the guest performance by tweeting, “Rehearsed today for my @NBCThe Voice performance tomorrow. It’s gunna be insane!!!!” Minutes before hitting the stage, she proceeded to show her support for Team Blake, posing with a massive portrait of the popular mentor. Blake certainly was happy to see Cassadee back on stage, although we’re not sure it completely softened the blow of losing his final season five contestant.
A number of other guest artists also appeared during yesterday’s elimination episode, including fellow Voice alums Danielle Bradbery and Michelle Chamuel and the Swon Brothers. Cassadee, however, was the only season three artist to appear on the stage, the others all having been mainstays of The Voice season four. She also stood apart from the other guests as the only alum to truly achieve music industry success, although critics would argue even that’s modest when compared to the likes of American Idol greats Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.
We’ve included a video of Cassadee Pope’s amazing performance below. Check it out and then stop by the comments section to tell us what you think!
