Team Adam is in a bit of an awkward position during finale week on The Voice, as two of its members — Tessanne Chin and Will Champlin — made it to the top three. Adam Levine has made it abundantly clear that he’s only going to lend his support to one contestant…and that the lucky lady is the lovely Tessanne Chin.
Blake Shelton and CeeLo Green are both finished, which means The Voice has turned into an all-out battle between Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine. Most fans assume that this is Adam’s year, as the mentor possesses two contestants, one of whom was already highlighted as a front-runner on day one.
Actually, Adam was the one to give Tessanne Chin that early front-runner label, so it’s only fitting that he throws his support to the talented singer as the competition draws to a close. But c’mon Adam, you could at least have thrown Will Champlin a bone!
Adam’s preference for Tessanne was evident throughout the finale broadcast. After yet another flawless performance from his favorite contestant, the mentor remarked, “I’m not vying for the affection of everybody by saying ‘Vote for Tessanne, vote for Tessanne.’ I’m just so blown away by what you do. I know — I know — in my mind and in my heart that you’re the winner of this show.”
Talk about ouch for Will Champlin! The singer must have felt at least a little bit discouraged, although he later took to Twitter to explain, “Yes I heard what @adamlevine said about Tess before I performed. Don’t need him to think I’m a winner or want me to win-I want it enough myself.”
What do you think about Adam Levine’s favoritism? Is it a simple case of reality show strategy? Sound off in the comments section below!
