Following a series of very controversial remarks about homosexuality, Phil Robertson has officially been suspended by A&E. While many critics of the Roberston family support the network’s decision, others feel the Duck Dynasty star should be allowed to voice his beliefs. Sarah Palin is one of several influential supporters willing to stand up for Duck Dynasty’s patriarch.
Sorry Duck Dynasty fans, but your favorite reality dad Phil Robertson may not show up on the television screen for some time. As far as we’re concerned, it’s all good as long as Uncle Si’s around. But plenty of other Duck Dynasty viewers are upset about A&E’s decision to place Phil on indefinite suspension. From the moment A&E announced the development, fans flocked to social media to express their outrage.
Sarah Palin found the move particularly problematic, likening it to a form of censorship. She took to Facebook to share her thoughts, explaining, “Free speech is an endangered species. Those ‘intolerants’ hatin’ and taking on the Duck Dynasty patriarch for voicing his personal opinion are taking on all of us.” The former governor also posted a photo of herself and several members of the Duck Dynasty clan. She had met up with the family earlier in December, during a book signing event in Monroe, Louisiana.
What do you think of the latest Duck Dynasty controversy? Do you agree with Sarah Palin — should Phil Robertson be allowed to share his thoughts without fear of losing his job? Or did A&E make the right move in putting him on indefinite suspension? We know you have an opinion and we want to hear it, so feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below!
