Porsha Stewart Confuses The Underground Railroad With Real Train

December 23, 2013 10:27 AM by Stephanie Gustafson

Just when you think certain Real Housewives of Atlanta cast members have reached the pinnacle of ignorance, Porsha Stewart opens her mouth and embarrasses herself to no end. The reality star recently revealed her lack of understanding regarding United States history, confusing the Underground Railroad with actual trains.

As usual, there was plenty of drama on the latest episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. But the true entertainment arrived during the ladies’ Freedom Trail tour in Savannah, when Porsha Stewart made her ignorance on all things history abundantly clear.

During the tour, a guide pointed out ventilation holes in the First African Baptist Church, where “people crawled under to escape slavery.” A confused Porsha proceeded to explain, “There has to be an opening for the railroad.”

Fortunately, not all of the cast members on The Real Housewives of Atlanta are so woefully ignorant as Porsha. Following the reality star’s cringe-inducing statement, Phaedra Parks clarified, “It wasn’t a train. It was a euphemism, baby.” Kenya later added, “It’s almost hurtful to watch her be so dumb.” Kenya later took to social media to explain exactly how hurtful the statement was, tweeting, “I want to laugh but it makes me want 2 cry…when [Porsha's] grandfather fought 4 civil rights that she bragged about, to not know that there wasn’t a literal train!”

As usual, NeNe Leakes’ response to the hilarious flub was the most concise and the most entertaining. The popular Real Housewives star simply said, “Ding dong” with an amused expression on her face.

What did you think of Porsha Stewart’s Underground Railroad confusion? Amusing or offensive? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments section below!

Seriously – don’t we have better things to worry about and ram people into the ground over? Porsha’s lack of knowledge of the history of the Underground Railroad speaks more to the lack of truth regarding the country’s evil history of engaging in African slavery, refusal to admit its evils and provide an adequate education regarding important U.S. history. Is Porsha the brightest bulb in the RHOA fixture – uh . . . no. But she’s no dimwit either – and besides when did it become OK to publicly embarrass people to make money?

Really – I’d rather be dumb than filthy enough to make money by causing someone else pain.

Obviously her grandfather did not do a good job of explaining history to her or maybe one of the rocks she said was thrown at her and her grandfather when she marched with him hit her in the head…..Just Sad!

I already feel like I get more stupid every time I watch shows like this, but with Porsha all time new low of reality tv ignorance I will turn her and the tv off. This is so offensive and he feeds into the narrative of exactly what people think about reality tv stars. So she lost her marriage because of the show and now she looses her job. Porsha needs to go back from whence she came please do us all a favor. DUMMY!

This girl is the dumbest thing I have ever seen in my life. I see why Kordel divorced her. She is all beauty but no brains, she used him as her wallet, spending all his money to look good but she could not take some of the money to get some education. Her family must be soooooooooo ashamed and embarrassed

First, we had to deal with the effects of Sherri Shepeard on The View, saying that he world is flat…and NOW, Porsha thinking that the Underground Railroad was an actual train? These black women are embarrassing us as a group! Why should we feel sorry for Porsha, when she is all over the TV telling everybody that is “Porsha 5.0″ this season. Meanwhile, she skipped History “101!

I’m white, and I know what the Underground Railroad was. If she doesn’t know how many days in a year, the facts about the Underground Railroad, do you really think she knows the definition of euphemism?

I don’t understand what she was thinking when it came to the underground railroad situation. Dumb is not the word I would use for Porsha. I feel at times she may speak before thinking…..

We must refrain from calling people names to cast a dark shadow over them, because those names has away of coming back to revisit us in another way.
