Kenya Moore Dishes On Porsha Stewart’s Underground Railroad Drama

December 26, 2013 12:00 PM by Stephanie Gustafson

In case you missed it, Porsha Stewart made quite the fool of herself when she confused the Underground Railroad with modern transportation on this week’s episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Fellow reality star Kenya Moore was deeply disturbed by this mishap, as she later explained in a blog post for Bravo.

Although initially reluctant to join in on the Real Housewives of Atlanta tour of Savannah, Kenya Moore quickly warmed up to the idea, particularly when she learned more about the city’s historical significance. As she recently revealed in a new blog for Bravo, Kenya soon realized Savannah’s status as “one of the most beautiful and historically significant cities in the South. Particularly, because of ties it has to slavery.”

Unfortunately, Kenya feels that an otherwise enjoyable trip was completely destroyed by Porsha Stewart’s ignorance. She explained, “When Porsha was perplexed at how the train operated or ‘who went down there first to make room because they didn’t have electric trains like we do now,’ I became incensed.” Apparently, Porsha’s late grandfather was a prominent civil rights activist. While Kenya feels that it’s problematic for anybody to display such ignorance regarding African American history, she believes it’s especially insulting coming from a descendant of such an inspirational figure.

Although Kenya believes that Porsha is an embarrassment to both her grandfather and herself, she also acknowledges that much of the blame lies with the culture in which Porsha was raised. “Our educational system has failed her, anyone who coddled her or encouraged her to focus on her makeup, weave, and shoes to find a man to take care of her rather than her education has failed her. Anyone laughing at this gross ignorance has failed her.”

Do you agree with Kenya Moore? Is is wrong for fans to laugh at Porsha Stewart? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments section below!
