Like many of her fellow Real Housewives (ahem, Lisa Vanderpump), the lovely Caroline Manzo is absolutely obsessed with four-legged critters. Sadly, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star was forced to bid farewell to a beloved canine friend. And to make matters worse, that goodbye occurred on Christmas Day.
Caroline Manzo may have plenty to celebrate this holiday season, what with the recent engagement of her daughter and a long-awaited departure from all the drama on The Real Housewives of New Jersey. But the reality star instead found herself mourning Austin, her pet dog and best buddy.
Following Austin’s death, Caroline took to Twitter to share the sad news. “RIP my beautiful little puppy, you were so loved. Santa has a new sidekick – xoxo.” Included in the touching tribute was a photo of Austin posing with Santa. Caroline also posted a collection of throwback photos with Austin on her official website, as well as the following heartfelt message: “Dogs are FAMILY. Rest in peace, Austin. We all love and miss you.”
No word as to the cause of Austin’s passing, but based on a tweet posted by Lauren Manzo, the dog was alive as of early Christmas morning. But even at that point, Caroline’s daughter admitted, “sad because my pup isn’t doing well.” A few fans have speculated that Caroline and her family ultimately decided to spare Austin further pain by having him put to sleep, but there’s been no confirmation as to the accuracy of that rumor.
Losing a pet is never easy — particularly on a holiday! Feel free to share your condolences for Caroline Manzo’s family in the comments section below.
