Happy, happy, happy! That didn’t take too long, now did it? Less than two weeks after A&E decided to suspend Phil Robertson from any further taping of Duck Dynasty for his supposed anti-gay comments, the network has decided to reinstate the Robertson patriarch. Way to go fans, Phil will be back on our screens soon and will be taping new episodes!
For the past 10 days, fans have been rallying behind their favorite bearded redneck to support the Duck Dynasty star, hoping to prove to A&E that they made a huge mistake by suspending Phil Robertson. And guess what? It looks like it all worked, because the network has lifted the suspension on Robertson.
“As a global media content company, A&E Networks’ core values are centered around creativity, inclusion and mutual respect. We believe it is a privilege for our brands to be invited into people’s homes, and we operate with a strong sense of integrity and deep commitment to these principles,” the statement yesterday by A&E read, referring to their quick suspension of Robertson.
However, it seems that the network realized what a huge mistake they made, as the statement continued: ”But Duck Dynasty is not a show about one man’s views. It resonates with a large audience because it is a show about family…a family that America has come to love. As you might have seen in many episodes, they come together to reflect and pray for unity, tolerance and forgiveness. These are three values that we at A&E Networks also feel strongly about.
So after discussions with the Robertson family, as well as consulting with numerous advocacy groups, A&E has decided to resume filming Duck Dynasty later this spring with the entire Robertson family.” Meanwhile, new episodes will begin airing next month, with Phil and the entire family, as they were filmed prior to the suspension.
Hooray! We are thrilled that Phil is back! The fans spoke and A&E listened!
