Jay Mohr must have realized the error of his idiotic ways for fat-shaming Alyssa Milano last month, and now the comedian and Suburgatory star is issuing an apology…sort of. Earlier we posted a story about Jay dissing the Project Runway All-Stars host regarding her post-baby body, and how Alyssa responded to his rudeness with absolute class. Now, Jay is backtracking on Twitter in a half-assed attempt at an apology.
“She’s stunning. I mistakenly thought the absurdity of what I was saying would have [been] taken as a joke. #fail,” Jay tweeted yesterday following public backlash over his remarks. Personally, I think he couldn’t done better than that. Instead of simply saying, “I’m sorry. I was an utterly insensitive jackass and I regret hurting your feelings,” he plays it off like he was just joking all along. Sorry, Jay. Not buying it.
The “apology” came as a result of Jay’s previous comments that he made on-air during a radio program, where he essentially called Alyssa fat and said she needs to wear Spanx. Ugh. He had to have been on drugs to say something so completely asinine. Did anyone see him hanging out with Lamar Odom right before?
After Jay’s hilarious “jokes” got back to Alyssa, the Project Runway All-Stars host tweeted back at him, “So sorry you felt the need to publicly fat-shame me. Be well and God Bless. Please send my love to your beautiful wife.”The woman is pure class, is she not?
Naturally, the internet exploded with people supporting Alyssa and telling her how gorgeous she is (and she is) and simultaneously telling Jay was a complete moron he is (and he is). It didn’t take long for Jay to realize – or Jay’s people anyway – that he had some serious damage control to do, hence the half-assed apology.
Unfortunately for Jay, women never forget, and I’m betting his female fans will take a loooooong time to forgive him.
