Juan Pablo Galavis Gives Awkward Anti-Gay Interview

January 19, 2014 02:47 PM by Lisa Princ

Uh oh, could Juan Pablo Galavis of The Bachelor be following in the footsteps of Phil Robertson? While the single father may not be preaching the bible, he did get into the anti-gay spirit recently during an interview, and it was just plain awkward to say the least. Details inside…

The Bachelor‘s Juan Pablo Galavis may have gay friends and co-workers, but that does not mean he agrees with that lifestyle. In a recent interview with The TV Page, Galavis was asked if he thinks that The Bachelor should feature a gay or bisexual star in the future, to which he replied: “I don’t think it is a good example for kids to watch that on TV.” Um, okay – who allows their children to watch The Bachelor anyway?

But then it got weird. Or perhaps he wanted to stick his foot his mouth, and after reading what he said next, maybe he should have. Galavis went on to attempt to explain himself by saying: “Obviously people have their husband and wife and kids and that is how we are brought up. Now there is fathers having kids and all that, and it is hard for me to understand that too in the sense of a household having peoples…Two parents sleeping in the same bed and the kid going into bed…It is confusing in a sense.” Yeah, we didn’t quite understand that either.

And kept going….Juan Pablo then added that he while does respect gays, but he feels they are “more pervert in a sense.” We’re still trying to figure out if he was bashing gay people or not. What do you think?

What did you think of Juan Pablo Galavis’ awkward interview? We know you have an opinion and we want to hear it. Comment below to share your thoughts with us!

That sounds very much like gay bashing to me. I think it is a bad example to his daughter speaking publicly like a bigot.

Juan Pablo, remember, we’re in America. They don’t really want your opinion, they want their right answer…

According to Juan Pablo I am automatically a pervert because I’m gay and that’s coming from someone who decided that the best way to get his child a mother was to go on a TV show half naked for weeks making out with dozens of women.
I can actually believe that some women will subject themselves to this just for a short fame but what I can’t believe is that the rest will endorse that show watching it every week. The show is similar to a Walmart commercial, the only difference is that he is not shopping for groceries but got a coupon for a free v*g*n*a. The show is repugnant and offensive – a real disrespect and demeaning for Women in every aspect of it.
(btw I don’t buy the language barrier excuse)

I thought everyone was entitled to their own opinion. Whether they think being gay is right or wrong, or don’t care one way or the other.
Whether they like to watch “The Bachelor” or whether they don’t. Whether they change their opinion about someone because of what they said or did, or whether it really doesn’t matter. Point is, if you don’t like something, then don’t watch it, put up with it or whatever. Juan Pablo’s problem right now is that he is a very public figure because he is on a show that a great many people like to watch. He was asked a question, and told the truth about how he feels. He didn’t lie just to stay in good graces with the public. I for one think that speaks volumes for the guy. For everyone who is irritated by him, don’t watch this season, or ever again if you don’t want to. It’s OK. It is America and you can do, say, or listen to whatever you want, and we do have plenty of choices. I say Hip, Hip Hooray for Juan Pablo for being an honest person.

f you look in an English to Spanish dictionary and look up the word “pervert”, the Spanish equivalent is “pervert”.

Also,he lives not in Caracas, but in Miami!

So, for him to “explain away” what he said, because he is “bilingual” is hogwash!
