Erin Andrews Awkward Interview With Richard Sherman

January 20, 2014 09:07 AM by Megan Thompson

Everyone is talking about Erin Andrews this morning after the NFC Championship game last night.  So what did this former Dancing With The Stars alum do to have the media buzzing?  A hyped up Richard Sherman went off on the calm Erin Andrews during an interview after the Seattle Seahawks big win.  Keep reading and watch a clip of the interview that’s now going viral.

The Seattle Seahawks won the NFC Championship last night, so why was Richard Sherman yelling at Erin Andrews?  Emotions must have been running high for the pro football player who is now heading to the Super Bowl. Apparently Sherman wanted to let everyone know he was the best “corner” in the game. But it seems Sherman just showed everyone that he was a sore winner when he screamed, “Don’t you ever talk about me. Don’t you open your mouth about the best, or I’ll shut it for you real quick.” Take a look at the clip below.

You have to hand it to our girl Erin Andrews who remained so calm with this man screaming in her face. As you can imagine millions took to Twitter after the interview to post their feelings about Sherman’s behavior. The always professional Erin also tweeted about the bizarre interview, “Richard Sherman gave a candid response seconds after an emotional game…looking forward to a great Super Bowl matchup.” Even when someone asked if she was scared, Andrews responded with a “not even close” and that she loved the emotion.

So what do you think about Richard Sherman’s interview? Do you think it was raw emotion or just bad sportsmanship? Let us know what you think, leave us a comment below.

I think it was great and raw emotion. It is probably one of the hardest positions in all of sports and Richard Sherman deserves more credit. Let people be who they are and just accept them as Mrs. Andrews did. I wish other players showed more emotions so we could see how they really are. Also, I have a high respect for a person that what you see is what you get and not some backstabber.

He was being fake. If the Seagirls would have lost the game would Dick Sherman still have responded in the text? Just another Ghetto Millionaire acting a fool. Champ Bailey never got ratchet after his win.

Obviously Crabtree and Sherman had words prior to this interview. What was said? Maybe the press can ask Crabtree. I don’t see Sherman as yelling at Andrews. He was yelling because of the loud noise.

  10. Wile Coyote Says:
    January 20th, 2014 at 10:30 am

Sherman was not going off on or directing any of his comment at Erin Andrews. He was referring to Michael Crabtree, the SF wide receiver.

Please report the actual story and not make one up as you go along.

It’s amazing how many black guys can’t control themselves around blond women. I guess he just thought she’d start rubbing him in the crotch. He is the “best” after all.

Are you kidding me! She tried to interview Sherman right after the game winning play, she know exactly what she was doing. And if not, she should have.

He was a ADRENALINE DISGRACE to all of his team mates… ERIN ANDREWS had full control, and handled it BRILLIANTLY… sent it to the BOOTH, to her guys. She is a real PROFESSIONAL,,,, YOU GO GIRL.

Ms. Andrews should get an award for journalistic work. She got a great piece, filled with raw truth and emotion. I give her all the credit in the world for not peeing herself. And.. Sherman is the best in a sport where this behavior is prevalent.

Richard Sherman is a rare athlete, he can talk the talk and….He is not overpayed whatsoever(2013 Salary-550k). Still enrolled @ Stanford getting his masters Degree. Probably smarter than most of us. I Love It, he’s playing us and now he will be the most talked about person for the new 2 weeks…

  23. lee pittman Says:

I take this interview as a threat to the reporter. He should be ashamed talking this way to a class lady, It is a shame to the sport and his football team. I hope the ownership of this team can see how rude and disrespectful this was. If this was my team, he would not play in the super bowl, good or not.

  24. matt Says:
    January 20th, 2014 at 11:26 am

please Erin. You were scared/startled/surprised all rolled into one, everyone saw you jump back and awkwardly say, with a shake in your voice, “who was talking about you?” as if you said something and he found out. lol. Your face showed it, voice, and body language. Whatever you claim, you didn’t expect it.

as for Sherman. Give him credit for not name calling or cursing. He did say “sorry receiver”, however, he did not use bully words in my opinion. Remember guys, this is a highly competitive sport with high emotions, adrenaline, and strength. We don’t need politically phrased words like the coach for the seahawks gave in the pre-game interview. Crafty words are a sign of tactics, evasiveness, and conartist qualities used by too many people in politics and high level positions. It’s refreshing to see candid, real life, real human responses, however loud and obnoxious one may receive them.

Best of luck to the Seahawks! You guys deserve the superbowl title!

  25. George G. Says:
    January 20th, 2014 at 11:28 am

Sherman is just getting into Crabtree’s head. They will be facing each other in games for years to come…just a little jedi mind game ;-).

  26. Willard Whiteman Says:
    January 20th, 2014 at 11:36 am

I hope the NFL fines him big time. Interview him in 5 years. He’ll be either in jail or living in a cardboard box outside the strip club.

  27. Phil Says:
    January 20th, 2014 at 11:39 am

I’ve heard a lot of rhetoric that attempts to justify this fella’s rant, including those who have the guts to claim that anyone offended by this guy are bristled up for racial reasons. This is NOT a racial issue. It just comes down to one simple thing — a lack of class.

  28. Randy Schuneman Says:
    January 20th, 2014 at 11:39 am

If I was Erin, I would have been a little afraid. He wasn’t yelling over the noise. He was yelling at Michael Crabtree. It may have been an act of emotion, but it was also a sign of immaturity.

  29. mike allwander Says:
    January 20th, 2014 at 11:46 am

Dick Sherman is a Douche Bag!!!!! He has no class as a professional NFL player. His display in the NFC championship game was an embarrassment to Seattle and the Seahawks franchise. I am not a Niners fan nor am I a Seahawks fan but now I hate the Seahawks!!!! GO DENVER!!!!

  30. Jon Drossos Says:

Just another typical football thug who definitely contributed to the impression most thinking people have concerning “professional” football players.

  32. Ronnie Guitar Says:
    January 20th, 2014 at 11:52 am

He wasn’t really yelling at Erin, he was yelling at the camera. He was yelling at all of us out in TV land. Kind of reminded of a trash talking professional wrestler.

  33. Al S Says:
    January 20th, 2014 at 11:52 am

I think it was bad sportsmanship on the part of Richard Sherman. He was trying to rub it in with Crabtree after the play and then Crabtree gets a penalty for a little shove. Fox and Erin Andrews should have stayed away from him afterward. I really don’t want to see some overpaid egomaniac being interviewed.

  34. Peytonwillcrushthem Says:
    January 20th, 2014 at 11:52 am

yawn!!!!!!!!!!!!! Much ado about nothing. She interviewed him right after an emotional victory. Any fool would know that competitive athletes talk smack about others ALL the time.

This has nothing to do about Erin Andrews but about a raw and emotional response.

    Next please!

Sherman – the best corner!!?? He didn’t even make the interception! He’s fortunate his teammate did! It could have just as easily been caught by his opponent. I’m so glad Gator Great Erin Andrews didn’t dignify his remarks by giving him any more airtime. I’m sure he made Stanford proud!

  36. Kristi Says:
    January 20th, 2014 at 12:03 pm

Classless behavior from a poor sport. He showed it all during the interview and his behavior on the field during the game. Maybe he is the best corner in the game but 1/2 of being great is being humble. The team made it to the Superbowl, not this one individual. Kudos to Erin – THERE’S a real professional.

  37. Mimi Says:

Sherman – the best corner ?!?! He didn’t even make the interception! He is fortunate his teammate caught the ball and not his opponent. I’m so happy Gator Great Erin Andrews didn’t dignify his remarks with any more airtime. I’m sure he made Stanford proud.

Richard Sherman of the Seahawks shouldn’t be allowed to open his mouth–he went to Stanford–supposedly a place where smart people go–obviously he got there via FREE RIDE for football–he is a moron–he thinks he badder than he is–all mouth–too bad–a good football player, not great like he thinks, and I personality of a jackass–he makes me sick and if he did that on a Belichik coached team he would be on the bench and silenced–that is an embarrassment on the Seahawks organization–I was happy watching the game–then that interview made me sick to my stomach–I hope someone breaks a few of his favorite bones and crams their fist down his throat to shut him up!–I have the Seahawks winning the Super Bowl, yet feel I don’t want to root for them–POOR SPORTSMANSHIP, LACK OF A BRAIN—OPEN MOUTH ,INSERT…………………….

you may adjust my comment if you like, had to blow of steam–I have been smashed in the head with a hockey stick during games –it was less vile an action than Richard Shermann’s bone breath tirade

Sherman: “Dontchu eva talk ’bout me…”

Typical idiot who thinks anyone knows who he is. You play for Seattle not the patriots you fool. Like anyone in the world would even know that you and crabtree are constantly going at it. Manning and the broncos will humble this idiot.

Erin looks 45 in this photo…might have been partyin night before…or was someone getting pancakes ready on her face before the shot?

These post game interviews do nothing to enhance the understanding of the sport. Pammie’s interview with Coach Jim was also equally lame, but showed the class of the Niners vs the loud mouth Seattle ‘tude.

I love the comment about him being enrolled in a mastees degree program at stanford. The way he talks he couldnt make it through the fifth grade. Most of his rant was unidentifiable do to his use of ebonics or whatever that was. I also noticed whem crabtree shoved him in the face mask he didn’t do anything else. Typical bully actions. Just barely got his fingers on the ball to tip it away. A great play but the best player at his position in the nfl. No way Obviously anger issues. Hey stupid the games over show some class. See what peytons got for you in 13 days.

Att all haters REALITY CHECK: You wish your team had a player like this I sure do. 49ers and Seahawks play nasty smash mouth football they try to knock each others heads off. This was 1 min after a conflict with someone who hurled the nastiest insults about your wife, mother, sister, grandmother, (IT’S ENCOURAGED BY 49ERS COACH) also shoved, pulled, pushed you tried to hurt you the WHOLE game. This man is the best corner, one of the hardest positions to play in the NFL it’s his job to be nasty and has to wind down, blame the media for shoving the mic in his face so soon. If you havent done his job which is to do whatever it takes to dominate mentally and physically then who are you to judge? A foolish clown thats who! He earned the right to raise his voice if that works for him. You people are lucky to have a job that ANY BRAINLESS CLOWN CAN DO THAT a SUCESSFULL person has PROVIDED TO YOU. This man has proved nobody can do what he can. Jealous haters with so much class! Judge and you will be judged.

Props to Erin… for biting her tongue. If Sherman was the best he’d have caught it himself. Turn and play the ball like the best really do. Props to M. Crabtree for not stooping…. Guess Sherman’s never heard ” if you got it, you don’t HAVE to talk about it”. Its cool though, Denver will serve up a little humble pie…

I don’t care if it a big win. Sherman what an arrogant and classless person you are. I don’t think there was any reference towards…Erin. However, you are a representative of a TEAM. Sherman you are one piece of a whole. You are not the show. Maybe when you grow up you will understand that. There is no excuse for ignorance and being classless…Nancy

  53. Lance Says:

Great play by a very good player on an even better defense. In slo-mo,you could see him thinking it out to tap the ball to his teammate. He was in the zone and walked the talk. Kaepernick just punked Cam Newton with the Superman move last week and that was entertaining too.
