Gordon Ramsay has a decidedly gruff demeanor (and that’s an understatement!), but he likes to think he can back it up with some of the world’s best cuisine. But can he? According to a new lawsuit, the Kitchen Nightmares star is responsible for another chef’s loss of taste. Any truth to the allegations?
Did Gordon Ramsay cause a German chef to lose his impeccable sense of taste? If Markus Barthel’s claims are true, that’s exactly what happened during what initially was supposed to be the “trip of a lifetime.”
The chef says that, during a visit to Gordon Ramsay’s New York restaurant, he bit into a sharp object while eating a burger. This object cut the visitor’s tongue, forcing him to undergo surgery shortly thereafter. According to the lawsuit, there’s permanent damage, which, given the victim’s career path, could prove absolutely devastating. In a recent interview, his lawyer explained, “The doctor said tongues are difficult to heal because people have to eat and they keep reinjuring themselves…A chef needs his tongue like a pianist needs his fingers. They have to taste everything, and he says there continues to be a loss of taste in his tongue.”
This lawsuit could prove incredibly problematic for Chef Ramsay, especially given last year’s loss of two Michelin stars at the very same restaurant. With The London’s reputation already severely damaged, this could be a sign that the reality chef needs to back off on some of his other projects and focus on getting his flagship establishment up to snuff.
Is this lawsuit a sign of bad things to come for Gordon Ramsay? Sound off in the comments section below!
