We’re definitely rooting for Mackenzie Douthit, as she’s clearly one of the most likable members of the Teen Mom cast. The reality star is over 36 weeks along in her pregnancy. Unfortunately, the entire process has been fraught with difficulty, mostly as a result of her status as a type 1 diabetic. The condition has once again created quite a bit of medical drama, forcing a sick Mackenzie to seek emergency medical attention.
Mackenzie’s mom recently updated fans on her daughter’s health status, tweeting, “At hospital with Mic! Trying to stop low blood sugars. Hoping to keep baby girl in for at least another week!” It looks like Mackenzie and her baby are doing okay for now, but delivery at just 36 weeks is definitely not ideal. A 40 week delivery would be much better for the baby but, at this point, is likely an impossibility.
As if these health issues aren’t bad enough, Mackenzie and her mother have found it difficult to secure proper medical care. Earlier, the reality star took to Twitter to complain, “Here I am about to pop and having the worst blood sugars not knowing if my daughter is gonna be ok because they did this and I have no diabetic care.”
We hope Mackenzie Douthit is able to obtain the care she needs. Feel free to share your best wishes for the reality mom in the comments section below!
