While we all knew that Demi Lovato would not be returning for another season of The X Factor, fans were curious as to who would be replacing her for the new season. As it turns out, no one will be replacing her because not even Simon Cowell will be returning to the once popular singing competition, and the network has canceled the show!
It’s a sad day for fans of The X Factor, as Fox recently announced that the singing competition is not coming back for a fourth season. The cancelation comes as a result of Simon Cowell deciding that he is heading back to the UK X Factor instead. “Unfortunately, there is no X FACTOR USA without Simon Cowell, but we understand and support his decision to focus on the international formats and on the next phase of his personal life. We wish him the very best, and it’s our sincere hope that we work together again soon,” the network said in a statement.
The statement came shortly after Cowell confirmed his plan to return to the UK show. An excited Cowell took to Twitter to share the news with fans, adding that he was also sad to leave the US. “I have had a blast. Really the best time of my life. Thank you for the support and the fun we have had together. It’s never forgotten,” Simon went on to explain. When the X Factor kicked off in 2011, it seemed to be a hit, but over the next two seasons, the ratings dropped, so that may have played a factor in Simon’s decision as well.
