Yolanda Foster recently attracted attention by choosing to put her $27 million mansion up for sale. The decision was definitely a practical one, as the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star’s Lyme disease struggles make managing such a huge estate virtually impossible.
Every once in awhile, Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise takes a break from its usual petty arguments in order to offer viewers an insider glimpse at more compelling issues. Yolanda Foster serves as the perfect example — her battle against Lyme disease played out on national television and proved incredibly effective in terms of raising awareness.
In a recent interview with Good Morning America, Yolanda admitted that, as annoying as it is to force crazy amounts of medication down her throat, the emotional impact of her illness is far worse than any physical complaints. “It’s such a lonely disease and it’s so silent….I get emotional just thinking about it. How am I ever going to get out of this?”
If there’s one thing we love about Yolanda Foster, it’s her admirable displays of determination in the face of a devastating disease. She told Good Morning America, “I’m determined and I’m gonna beat this thing.” The reality star has been fortunate enough to participate in an exclusive clinical trial, but she also recognizes that not all sufferers are afforded such an opportunity. Thus, Yolanda’s focused on getting the word out in hopes of promoting early detection. Following her Good Morning America appearance, she took to Twitter to thank the show for “helping me bring awareness.”
