Bethenny Frankel’s Talk Show Cancelled After Only One Season

February 14, 2014 06:00 PM by Suzy Kerr

Former Real Housewives of New York City star Bethenny Frankel is officially a talk show one hit wonder…and the word “hit” is being used loosely here. The news came down on Friday that Bethenny’s self-titled daytime talk fest would not be renewed for a second season, leaving the 17 people who tuned in regularly completely distraught.

Okay, okay, that was a little mean. In reality, Bethenny drew in an average 1.1 million viewers, which wasn’t nearly enough to seal the deal for a sophomore season. The show’s production company, Telepictures, confirmed on Fri. Feb. 14 that Bethenny would not be renewed. “We are incredibly proud of the creativity, passion, and professionalism Bethenny and her staff brought to daytime each and every day and look forward to finishing out the season with more great original episodes,” Telepictures said in a statement. “While we are disappointed not to be able to bring the series back for a second season, we remain convinced that she has a unique voice and that she will continue to be successful in the future.”

Bethenny, who left The Real Housewives of New York City in 2010, started filming the talk show in the fall of 2013, but sources close to the ex-reality star say that the daytime setting wasn’t a great fit for her. “The truth is, while she did love the show, it was hard for her to be edited every day in the daytime talk show world,” the insider told Us Weekly. “She is who she is, and she never wanted to have to edit herself, which she often had to do. So it is all for the best.”

Bethenny herself, however, is keeping her head high and her options open. She also had nothing but nice things to say about her daytime experience, telling Us, “I had a blast doing this show with Telepictures. My entire staff worked so hard and made everyday so much fun. I am thankful for the experience and for all of my fans who tuned in every day.”

So what do you think about Bethenny Frankel’s talk show getting the axe? Are you surprised or did you see this one coming? Sound off in the comments!

I watched every episode. I thought she did a fantastic job. I thought she asked questions of people that other hosts would be afraid to be so direct in asking. I was disappointed and surprised that it wouldn’t be returning for a second season. She had many insightful and helpful life hints… although I liked the initial format better with the couches before the switched it up in the first few weeks. Anyway, Bethanny is a fighter and she always seems to end up on top. This won’t be the last of her, I’m sure. Well done, Bethanny.

I am late to her show and only started watching it a couple of weeks ago. To my surprise Bethenny is a great host, very energetic, upbeat, witty, intelligent and funny. Unfortunately in todays world 1.1 million daily viewers is not enough to keep a show on.. WTH? Like that number couldn’t double in a second season or at least grow. I just tuned in to Bethenny’s show and stayed…how many more are late to the show besides me? Word of mouth and this show would have been a success by season 2 or 3.

I love Bethenny, her spirit is one of a kind.. Apparently the same FOOLs who have allowed Jerry Springer to remain on the air, & The View, WAY past their prime, are the one`s in charge of taking THE BEST new show off the air, & leaving the crap behind!!! Day time, or NIGHT time Bethenny was born to be a talk show host, she`s perfect w/ people.. I am utterly disgusted by this!! I actually got tears in my eyes as I read the news.. I had Bethenny on t.v. at the time, (w/ Wayne Brady)& was just curious if Bethenny had found herself anyone yet, then read THIS news..As I looked at her face sitting w/ Wayne Brady she seemed sadder than usual, & I was convinced she had already heard the news, & was putting on a brave face.. She doesn`t deserve this.. I was just telling my partner, what a good job she`s doing, & how animated her audience is now compared from when she first started, it`s way TOO soon & given another year she will be hotter than HOT!!.. People seem so comfortable & relaxed w/ her, in the audience,
as well as her guests.. People naturally respond to her authentic nature, she tells it like it is.. She is what the world needs MORE of.. I guess It doesn`t surprise me, now that I think about it, that certain people don`t want people like her on t.v. what would happen if the whole world started speaking the truth?!First Bethenny, next the world.. Hang in there Bethenny, you`re a diamond among a world of coal.. <3
