Bethenny Frankel finally opened up to fans since her talk show was abruptly cancelled earlier this month. The former Real Housewives of New York City star took to her website this morning to pen an open letter to fans who were wondering how she’s been coping, and guess what? B. Frank is just fine.
After leaving the Real Housewives of New York City in 2010 to explore greener pastures, Bethenny Frankel didn’t hold back when it came to trying new things. While the single mom has found a solid niche in the adult beverage industry, her talk show Bethenny was another story. From the get-go, the ex-reality star failed to attract viewers, and some audience members even complained that Bethenny was “cold” during tapings. And let’s not even get started on what everyone on Twitter was saying about the show.
With feedback like that, it wasn’t any great surprise when Fox decided to pull the plug on the talk show after just one season. Bethenny spoke out immediately afterward, speaking highly of the experience and thanking her staff. However, that sort of pre-packaged response is pretty standard in the entertainment industry, and fans were left wondering how the 43-year old REALLY felt.
Now, Bethenny is speaking out, and in an open letter to her fans, she’s assuring everyone that she’s perfectly fine – and even relieved – that the show was cancelled. “I felt a bit diluted, filtered and somewhat constricted,” she writes. “I am a free spirit. My late father (a horse trainer) used to say, ‘She is a mustang. You need to let her run. So to answer how I feel, I am relieved. What I really want right now is to be with my daughter, to do yoga, to focus on Skinnygirl and my writing, and to give myself a break.”
She also took the opportunity to give props to the successful female talk show hosts out there – namely Oprah and Ellen DeGeneres. “I have so much more respect for them having been through this experience. They are warriors and champions who make a very difficult job look effortless.”
Classy move, Frankel. I like it.
But what do you think? Do you think Bethenny really is okay with her show getting the axe? Tell us in the comments below or sound off on Facebook!
