Last night, fans of American Idol had the opportunity to learn more about their favorite contestants based on their song choices for Home Week. Now, the question remains: who will have to actually return home — for good?
The Facebook community is buzzing about the recent Home Week episode of American Idol. Contestants were encouraged to choose songs that reminded them of home, and, suffice to say, the end result proved quite interesting! This years competitors impressed with fairly nuanced selections, as opposed to overt choices with their hometowns’ names in the title. Sometimes, though, these were almost too nuanced, as in the case of Jena Irene’s Suddenly I See.
Jennifer Lopez told the “talented twelve” that they really needed to show viewers a sense of passion for Home Week, explaining, “We need the wow…It has to be powerful.” A handful of performances delivered just that; Dexter Robert impressed with a cover of Montgomery Gentry’s Lucky Man, while Majesty Rose mixed up her usual R&B routine with a tender take on Coldplay’s Fix You. However, while Majesty’s Twitter following was absolutely delighted with her performance, the judges didn’t seem to agree, arguing that, while the beginning of the song was great, it moved away from the “quiet zone” too quickly. However, Keith added, “I know one thing: We’ll see you next week.”
Perhaps the biggest disappointment this week was MK Nobilette, a wonderful talent who played it safe with Train’s Drops Of Jupiter. Harry Connick Jr. commented, “I still get the feeling that you don’t really want to be here.” Ouch!
