It’s been a few weeks since we’ve seen Ruben Studdard show off his weight loss on The Biggest Loser finale, where he also performed his new single Meant To Be. Now, the Idol alum is dishing all about his new album, Unconditional Love, and what we can expect from it!
If you’re one of the many folks who missed Ruben Studdard, you’re in luck, because Studdard has released his first studio album in two years. The Idol champ spoke recently about what fans can expect from his sixth album, and this time, he’s gone with some original tunes, as well as some cover songs. “People are used to hearing particular songs a certain way. And so, to put a new and fresh take on classics is something that I think distinguishes the greats from the OKs,” Studdard told NPR in an interview.
The album, Unconditional Love, was released just in time for Valentine’s Day this year, and since then, it has been doing very well. And though it has been over ten years since Studdard’s big win on American Idol, he still credits the show for his success. “The one thing about American Idol is that it puts you at such a high level, that you feel as if everything you do has to be at that level forever. We start so high. You know, most artists have an opportunity to kind of be developed and work their way through having a failed album and all that,” Studdard explained.
