Last night marked one of the most awkward Bachelor finales yet. Yet another one of Juan Pablo’s ladies worked up the nerve to tell him off — but this time, JP managed to get in a final snide remark before her departure. Despite what fans on Facebook were expecting, this last jab was not the usual, “It’s okay.”
Following a very tumultuous season of The Bachelor, Juan Pablo has made his choice — his happily ever after (or, in reality, not-so-happy now) will be with Nikki Ferrell. Of course, before he could present Nikki with the final rose, he needed to send away Clare Crawley. And wow, talk about awkward!
Juan Pablo attempted to break the bad news gently, telling Clare that he simply didn’t have strong enough feelings to propose. At this point, however, Clare had already decided that she was finished with JP. Things hadn’t gone so well during their final Juan-on-Juan date, or, as Clare put it, “He told me something that no woman wants to hear…some sexual thing that I don’t even want to repeat.”
This comment convinced Clare that she didn’t want a future with Juan Pablo. We’re not sure why she failed to tell him during the actual date, but perhaps she wanted to outdo Andi Dorfman’s grand exit. She certainly followed in Andi’s footsteps, for, after learning she’d been rejected, Clare told JP that he would make a terrible father for her future kids. Not to be outdone, Juan Pablo responded, “Ooh, glad I didn’t pick her.”
Clare refused to speak to Juan Pablo at the After The Final Rose special, but she did take to Twitter to explain, “It takes a strong man to love a strong woman.”
What did you think of Clare Crawley’s parting words? Did she deserve Juan Pablo’s nasty comeback? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments section below!
