After getting a later-than-usual premiere, Survivor: Cagayan will have a later-than-usual finale date. But there’s an even bigger change. For the first time since the original season, the finale will be held on a Wednesday night. CBS made the announcement today without offering any reason for the finale shift. When is the finale slated to take place? Find out inside this article!
CBS has scheduled the Survivor: Cagayan finale and live reunion show to take place on Wednesday, May 21. It was also not revealed if the finale would take place in New York City or Los Angeles, but many fans have been speculating that all future Survivor finales will be held in LA. New York City has not hosted a finale since Survivor: One World (season 24) in May 2012.
Why the shift? Firstly, the season did get off to a late start having premiered on Feb. 26. Secondly, Survivor has been experiencing massive success having beaten American Idol in the ratings for the last few weeks. Maybe it’s a way for CBS to flex its muscle over Idol? Maybe.
The only other Wednesday finale was held on Aug. 23, 2000, when 51.7 million viewers tuned in to watch Richard Hatch win the first season.
What do you think of the finale being held on a Wednesday night? Do you think it’s a good move? Sound off and leave a comment in the section below!
