Kourtney Kardashian has received plenty of Facebook criticism in response to her decision to pursue an attachment style of parenting for Mason and Penelope. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star is once again defending her parenting approach, this time in an exclusive interview with Redbook.
It’s obvious that Kourtney Kardashian loves being a mom, but some critics feel that she’s not going about discipline in the correct manner. The reality star is well known for her unusual parenting style, which included a very lengthy period of breastfeeding, plus sleeping with both of her children.
During a recent chat with Redbook, Kourtney admitted that, although both Mason and Penelope continue to sleep in the bed she shares with Scott Disick, she hadn’t always planned for a shared bedroom. “It’s what came naturally to me; I didn’t plan it. When I had Mason, I just felt really attached to him, and wanted to bring him everywhere. He ended up sleeping with me, and I breastfed for 14 months.”
Mason and Penelope actually have their own beds; they just don’t want to stay in them all night long. Kourtney explained, “Mostly there are times each night when the kids are in their own rooms, and sometimes it even lasts all night. Every night is different.”
This bedtime tradition has, naturally, caused a bit of conflict with Scott Disick. And Kourtney’s siblings are also confused by her insistence on attachment parenting. But the celeb remains convinced that, despite the backlash on Twitter, this is the approach that works best for her kids. Do you agree? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments section below!
