Last night may have marked a nerve wracking double elimination on The Voice, but most Facebook fans wound up turning their focus to the always sexy Shakira. The singer left the judging panel behind, taking the stage for an entertaining rendition of Empire.
Sometimes, the best way for contestants on The Voice to learn important lessons about showmanship is to watch the pros in action. Yesterday, they had the opportunity to do just that when Shakira stepped on stage to perform Empire, her hot new single. Confident as always, the judge stole the spotlight, showing the contestants exactly how to blow the audience away.
Prior to her big performance, Shakira took to Twitter to alert her fans. She tweeted, “Performing my song #Empire tonight @NBCTheVoice!!!” The singer also encouraged followers to support the remaining members of Team Shakira. Unfortunately, only Tess Boyer made it through to the next round.
Although Shakira earned plenty of praise for her rockin’ performance, she may have captured even more attention when she mouthed a swear word on live TV. The judge was clearly upset when both Tess Boyer and Dani Moz were revealed to be in danger. Before she learned that Dani was going home, Shakira told both of the contestants that she was proud of their accomplishments. “You’ve been so amazing to me all this time and I love you both…You started out as singers but now you’ve become artists. If you keep at it I truly believe you will be unstoppable.”
We’ve included a video of Shakira’s Empire performance below. Be sure to check it out and, when you’re finished, stop by the comments section to tell us what you think!
