In many ways, Jase Robertson is a younger version of his dad — just look at that beard! But the Duck Dynasty star takes a decidedly different approach to religion. While his father is once again receiving Facebook criticism in response to a controversial sermon, the younger Robertson admits that he doesn’t think church attendance is necessarily vital to being a good Christian.
Jase Robertson has adopted many of his dad’s values, particularly when it comes to grooming and fashion. But in other ways, the reality star has worked hard to avoid following his father’s lead. For example, while the Duck Dynasty patriarch spent a lot of time drinking in his younger years, his son opted to stay far, far away from alcohol. In a recent interview with Fox411, he admitted, “I’ve never been high or drunk in my life,” adding that he didn’t take a single sip of booze until he turned thirty.
While Twitter followers assume Phil Robertson is proud of his son’s decision to abstain from drugs and alcohol, they’re not sure he feels the same about his somewhat laid-back approach to religion. While chatting with Fox411, Jase Robertson confessed, “There’ a lot of things about organized religion that are not pleasant…If you’re judgmental or mean spirited or hypocritical that’s just not good.” That being said, Robertson does appreciate having the opportunity to connect with other Christians in his community, although he says he tends to be an “anti-establishment type guy.”
What do you think of Jase Robertson’s approach to Christianity? We know you have an opinion and we want to hear it, so feel free to sound off in the comments section below!
