We can’t say we didn’t see this one coming! Months after fans got the shock of their life when Rachel Frederickson won the last season of The Biggest Loser while looking sickly thin, rumors began to spark up that Jillian Michaels was ready to quit the popular weight loss show. Well, the rumors are true, folks – Jillian Michaels will not return to The Biggest Loser for the new season, as she is leaving….again.
Prepare to be shocked Facebook and Twitter fans because Jillian Michaels is leaving The Biggest Loser. Note the sarcasm. Seriously, we’re just kidding…about the shocking part, that is. Jillian Michaels, however, is not returning to The Biggest Loser next season. In a statement issued yesterday, NBC said: “After helping hundreds of contestants transform their lives and inspiring millions of viewers at home, The Biggest Loser and Jillian Michaels have decided to part ways and she will not be returning for season 16 when it airs in the fall.”
And while the show was criticized for Rachel’s weight loss at the finale, Michaels had her own controversy going on last season. If you recall, Jillian was accused of giving her contestants caffeine pills without a doctor’s okay, which ultimately led to Ruben Studdard’s return to the show. Coincidence? Of course, after that incident, rumors began to spark up claiming that Michaels did not like how she was portrayed on the show.
Back in May, Michaels hinted that she was done with The Biggest Loser. She went on to tell US Weekly Magazine: “The problem with Biggest Loser is that it’s become such a cartoon of me and it’s also — you maybe see what I’ve done in 10 days, you maybe see 5 minutes of it. And of course, the 5 minutes that they’re going to show is going to be the most sort of crazy, off the wall 5 minutes,” but never confirmed that she was actually leaving.
We wish her well, although we will miss her, but completely understand. No word of whether or not they will be bringing in another trainer has been revealed yet. We can only assume that both Bob Harper and Dolvett Quince will be back for the new season.
