Several months ago, Kim Kardashian encountered yet another unfortunate example of racism when she was harassed by a man in blackface at the Vienna Ball. The entire incident was captured for Keeping Up With The Kardashians, along with Kim’s reaction.
Last month, Kim Kardashian wrote a long blog post about her concerns regarding racism’s potential impact on North West. While a number of incidents have brought this issue to light, few disturbed Kim as deeply as the sudden appearance of a man in blackface at the Vienna Ball.
The blackface debacle was filmed for Keeping Up With The Kardashians and will be featured during this weekend’s episode. As earlier Facebook rumors suggested, a man in blackface approach Kim and told her that he was Kanye West. Kim was quickly hurried away from the scene. As she told cameras, the entire situation left her dumbfounded. “I can’t believe there is this guy in full blackface. I just am so confused. I don’t get why he or anyone else would find this funny.”
Kim was almost more bothered by the fact that the guy managed to get in the Vienna Ball in the first place than she was by his use of blackface. She complained that she was supposed to be attending an upscale event and wondered how it was possible for this man to get past security. When the incident first occurred, many of the reality star’s Twitter followers posed the exact same question.
Between the harassment of a stranger and her awful date with Richard Lugner, it’s clear that the Vienna Ball was an event Kim would like to forget!
