Kim Kardashian is an environmentalist’s worst nightmare and yet, somehow, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star’s hot new mobile app managed to capture the attention of the Environmental Protection Agency. What, exactly, do the EPA and Kim Kardashian: Hollywood have in common?
Nobody could accuse Kim Kardashian of being an environmentalist. But the reality star’s inherent materialism was apparently not enough to keep the Environmental Protection Agency from endorsing Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, the reality star’s popular mobile game. A recent message from the EPA’s Office of Water encouraged Twitter followers to download the app. The since-deleted tweet read, “I’m now a C-List celebrity in Kim Kardashian: Hollywood. Come join me and become famous too by playing on iPhone!”
Kim Kardashian failed to mention the EPA shout-out on Facebook or Twitter, but Glu Games (the app’s creator) certainly appreciated the attention. The company offered plenty of encouragement, tweeting, “Keep at it @EPAwater, you’ll get there.”
Turns out, the EPA doesn’t actually endorse Kim Kardashian: Hollywood. Rather, a clueless employee accidentally shared a notification with the Office of Water’s 52,000 followers. A spokesperson for the organization later explained, “An EPA fellow inadvertently triggered an auto-generated tweet. She regrets the errors and has been advised on the sensitivities of using social media.”
If there’s one upside to this embarrassing situation, it’s that Keeping Up With The Kardashians fans are now aware of the Office of Water. The organization acknowledged this in the following Twitter response: “Whoops…our bad. Sorry about tweet. Upside – more attention for the Office of Water.”
What do you think of the Office of Water’s mention of Kim Kardashian: Hollywood? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments section below!
