As Million Dollar Listing’s Twitter followers already know, Sam DeBianchi is an incredibly talented woman. She built a real estate empire in her early 20s, raising the bar by thinking outside of the box and utilizing her impressive negotiation skills. It took a lot of hard work to get Sam to where she is today — particularly given the near-death experience she faced as a child!
Facebook fans describe Sam DeBianchi as intelligent, talented and, at times, forceful. Until recently, however, few were aware that Sam could also be described as the ultimate survivor. The Million Dollar Listing star currently lives the high life, but she was first forced to face significant struggles as a child.
In a recent interview with Life & Style, Sam revealed, “I almost died at an early age.” The reality star went on to describe her terrifying battle with Cushing’s disease, which resulted from the bloating of a pituitary gland. Although her biggest worry at the time surrounded her ability to survive the disease, Sam also admits that had to deal with a number of other related problems, including thick facial hair. This left the reality star susceptible to taunting from bullies. “They would circle me every day and go on and on about how ugly I was. I’d cry to my mom and dad, begging them to homeschool me.”
Eventually, Sam was sent to an endocrinologist, who recommended a series of surgeries. These took place near the optic nerve, leaving her at risk of going blind. Fortunately, they proved a huge success — and Sam is happy to be incredibly healthy to this day!
