Tragedy has once again struck the American Idol family. This weekend, former contestant, Michael Johns, who landed in eighth place on the show’s seventh season, and was one of the men that left the ladies wanting more, has passed away at the young age of 35. So heartbreaking! Details on this sad story inside…

Who can forget season seven of American Idol? We certainly can’t. That was the season that David Cook left us with chills down our spines with his rendition of Hello, and the finale turned into the battle of the two David’s – and the battle of the rock fan base versus the teenage fan base. David Cook ended up taking the win, but it was a very memorable season full of talent.

But while there were many talented contestants that season, one of the favorites among the ladies was Michael Johns, who was referred to as a “white soul singer” by Simon Cowell. Johns had auditioned many times for the show, and finally made it that year, just in time for the age cut off. Sadly, tragedy struck Johns this weekend, as he passed away at the age of only 35. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Johns suffered from a blood clot in his ankle after an injury to it, which ultimately claimed his life.

Facebook and Twitter fans alike were stunned to hear this news, as was the entire American Idol family. “Michael Johns was an incredible talent and we are deeply saddened by the news of his passing. He was a part of our AMERICAN IDOL family and he will be truly missed. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this difficult time,” a statement on the show’s social media pages read. So heartbreaking! 35 is definitely way too young.

Michael leaves behind his wife of seven years, Stacey. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Michael Johns’ family and friends during this tragic time in their lives.

What do you think of the passing of Michael Johns? We know you have an opinion and we want to hear it, so feel free to sound off in the comments section below!
