Maksim Chmerkovskiy Is Sick And Tired Of Being Typecast As A Bad Boy

August 11, 2014 09:03 AM by Stephanie Gustafson

Maksim Chmerkovskiy‘s good lucks and gruff demeanor might make him a good fit for the official role of Dancing With The Stars bad boy, but the professional dancer insists that there’s far more to his personality than what viewers witness on the television screen. Now that he’s finished with DWTS for good, Maks hopes to show off more of his inner teddy bear.

Facebook fans love the apparent contrast between Maks and Val Chmerkovskiy. Val has long been labeled the nice guy, with Maks relegated to the role of bad boy from the moment he stepped on the Dancing With The Stars stage. Unfortunately for the dancer’s longtime Twitter followers, he has no interest in trying to replicate his special season with Meryl Davis — the season in which his inner good guy came to the forefront. Although he’s not planning on returning to DWTS, Maks says that he’ll still be on the dance floor…with a much better personality!

In a recent interview with The Seattle Times, Maks admitted that, while he understood why he’d been typecast as the quintessential bad boy, he’d grown tired of this very limited role. However, the dancer was willing to acknowledge that, in earlier seasons, he’d help to craft this negative perception. Trying to clear up the misunderstanding regarding his serious demeanor, Maks explained, “I was the last one to understand that this is a TV show, this is there for good times. I would try my best to win, I wouldn’t try my best to just smile and walk around. So that was the misunderstanding between me and the show.”
