Gordon Ramsay completed the Ironman last year, but he wasn’t particularly pleased with his performance. The Hotel Hell star has never been one to settle for mediocre, which is why he’s planning on returning to Kona for the 2014 Ironman!
If his frequent shirtless scenes on Hotel Hell are any indication, Gordon Ramsay is just as serious about working out as he is about making and eating amazing meals. Last year, the reality chef exhibited this commitment by training for and participating in the Kona Ironman. But while Facebook fans were super impressed with his performance, Gordon was not satisfied. He’s learned from his mistakes, however, and is eager to return for another shot at Ironman glory!
In a recent interview with Triathlete Europe, Gordon said that he was already running, biking and swimming laps in hopes of being as prepared as possible for his next big race. The reality star also confessed to making a few key changes to his training regimen. “I’m doing a lot more strength work in the legs, lots of squats. Lots of weight on the shoulders.”
Interestingly enough, although the chef knows plenty about preparing food, he still needs to learn a few things about consuming it on the go. He told Triathlete Europe that, in the past, he had simply eaten when he was hungry, instead of “regulating it every half hour.” During last year’s race, this approach ultimately resulted in Gordon “[gassing] out” while biking. He’s determined to avoid the same catastrophe this year — and members of the Twitter community are sure he’ll succeed!
