Facebook users are currently obsessed with the ice bucket challenge, a social media phenomenon in which participants douse themselves with ice water. In the last few weeks, LeBron James, Bill Gates, Taylor Swift and Jimmy Fallon have joined the movement, all in hopes of raising money for ALS. Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson has also stepped up to the plate — and his ice bucket video is causing quite a stir on Twitter!
Say what you want about the cast of Duck Dynasty, the famous bearded reality stars really are good guys at heart. This is especially true of the super popular Willie Robertson. Willie is always eager to help out with important causes — and ALS is no exception!
The other day, Governor Bobby Jindal asked Willie to take on the ice bucket challenge and donate to the ALS Association. Willie was happy to accept this challenge. He posted a YouTube video of his ice bucket experience, first stopping for a quick prayer “for those suffering with this disease and their families.” Then, the reality star asked spectators for a countdown, before being doused with a huge bucket of ice water.
While most ice bucket challenge participants hold buckets of ice water over their own heads, Willie apparently needed a little help. He completed the challenge in front of the memorable Duck Commander sign at the warehouse in West Monroe, waiting for two of his relatives to dump a trash barrel full of ice water over his head. The relatives completed this enviable task from the roof of the warehouse, while Willie stood below. Thoroughly soaked, the reality star commented, “A lot of force…that hit me like a truck!”
