Amber Portwood is working really hard to change her ways and be a good mother for her “Booboo,” but sometimes, the Teen Mom star admits, this is easier said than done. Although she’s still committed to remaining clean, Amber says she struggles with temptation on a regular basis. Several Teen Mom star have battled drug addiction, a problem that often compromises their ability to be responsible parents. Jenelle Evans is probably best known for this struggle, but Amber Portwood is also in the midst of recovery. The reality star made a point of getting clean while she was still behind bars, as she hoped to be released early…and more importantly, she wanted to improve her parenting skills. The plan worked, and Amber enjoys updating Facebook fans on her life away from jail.
However, things are far from perfect for the mom, who is still forced to fight the urge to use drugs. According to Amber, remaining sober is actually more difficult when she’s not behind bars. She recently told Radar Online, “I didn’t realize when I did get out that I would have even more temptation out here than I would in there. You just have to stay strong and remember what you’re doing and move forward.”
Fortunately, when she was released from jail, Amber was prepared to deal with temptation. She completed 500 hours of rehab classes; these courses gave her the skills necessary to combat the urge to use when a jail cell was no longer there to keep her accountable. And while she admits that she still struggles every single day, the reality star continues to impress Twitter followers with her progress.
