Big Brother 6 – The Summer That Fizzled

August 25, 2005 11:03:00 by Joe Blackmon

Janelleflash

Big Brother 6 was touted as the Summer of Secrets, but it has become the Summer that Fizzled.  After a promising start, the ship has sailed on what at one time looked like it was going to be the best Big Brother ever.  In the early days (or the Cappy Days as The Friendship calls them) of Big Brother 6, an explosive confrontation between Eric Littmann and Michael Donnellan had all Big Brother fans buzzing.

After Michael was evicted, Kasyar Ridha pulled off an amazing strategic move to take Eric out of the game.  The result was quite possibly the best single episode of Big Brother ever.  Then, Big Brother fans let out a sigh when mighty King Kaysar fell victim to The Friendship, but credit CBS with allowing fans to vote Kaysar back in for a second chance.  Of course the celebration was short-lived as Jennifer Vasquez told the great big lie that sent Kaysar packing.

There was still hope though as Hurricane Howie kept things interesting by unleashing his furious winds on The Friendship.  Janelle winning head of household and sending Jennifer packing gave hopes that the season might yet be salvaged.  But just as Big Brother fans were enjoying one of the most vicious Big Brother feuds ever, CBS cut the live feeds for 34 hours, and when the feeds came back on, the houseguests had been mysteriously mollified.

Things were so boring in the Big Brother house this week that CBS had to fill time in Thursday night’s episode by interviewing Howie’s parents and Rachel’s parents.  Depressingly, the interviews were probably the second biggest highlight of the show (the biggest highlight being Janelle flashing her underwear after she cast her vote to evict Rachel).  In fact, CBS has also announced that there will not be a Saturday night episode of Big Brother at all (probably because they couldn’t find enough interesting material in the house this week to fill another hour).

To no one’s surprise, Rachel Plencner is evicted by a unanimous vote during Thursday’s live eviction ceremony.  Julie asks Rachel what her downfall was and Rachel gets it exactly right when she says “I truly believe I’m sitting here because Howie nominated James & Sarah.  I truly believe that.”  Even though Howie is the self-proclaimed star of the show, he did in fact make one of the dumbest moves in Big Brother history.  Julie plays a message from Ivette Corredero for Rachel, and Ivette says “Your behavior in this house is out of control.  You have left me speechless with my mouth dropped.  I’ve never seen such poor sportsmanship like that carried out by yourself.”  Evidently, Ivette isn’t thinking about the fact that Rachel is going to be on the jury or she would have chosen her words more wisely (like James Rhine did) in order to try to get her jury vote in case she makes it to the final two.

The head of household competition is called high-low.  Houseguests are read a question and given a number and are told to step up or down based on if they think the correct answer is higher or lower than the number given.  For the second week in a row, The Friendship wins.  April beats out Janelle in a tiebreaker question.

Hopefully, there is another twist in store for Big Brother that might bring some excitement back to the game.  For now, the only thrill that Big Brother fans have is voting in America’s Choice.  The America’s Choice question is “Who would you like to receive a call from home?”  Big Brother fans will likely vote either Janelle Pierzina or Howie Gordon to victory for the enjoyment of watching Ivette’s face drop when one of them wins.

I couldn’t wait for BB6 to begin and the first couple of weeks were terrific and now it absolutely has fizzled - and has lost me as a viewer. I’m sure I’m not the only one either.

I can’t think of a more idiotic thing to ask us to vote on. CBS’s America’s choice vote is a joke.

It has become a boring show and CBS has compounded the problem by screwing up the competitions. Bye bye Big Brother, maybe next year I’ll watch.

Where does CBS get these paople? BB6 started great (well pretty good). Then it went down like a sinking ship. Let’s see, I could sit and watch a bunch of mamby pambys sit and tell each other they are playing an honest and moral game, *CHOKE*, or I could go watch the paint peel on my house…..I choose the paint since it has more personality than either April or Ivette.

I am very disappointed in the BB6 show this season. The girls on there are very childess and trashy. If I were their parents, I would be so embarrassed watching them all as they kept peeking over the shower door to see Beau naked and then laughing and squealing like a bunch of immature Jr. High kids. Everything about this show has been negative, full of hate and bad attitudes. I will no longer be watching this show. If that’s all you can find to reveal on your show, maybe you need to just cancel it.

I agree. BB6 started out great and I couldn’t wait until HOH every week. But now that the Friendship has control, I can’t stand to watch it. There is nothing appealing about any of the Nerd Herd. I hope there is so twist left so that Janelle and Howie can stay around a little longer. Hey BB, why don’t you let America vote someone off or vote for an HOH? That sounds like a pretty good idea to me! =)

IT STARTED OF GREAT AND I WAS ADDICTED TO IT BUT SINCE IT LOOOKS LIKE THE QUALITY OF REMAINING CONTESTANTS (NERD HERD) WILL WIN I WILL NEVER WATCH THE SHOW AGAIN. AS SOON AS JANELLE AND HOWIE GO THATS IT FOR ME THIS SHOW WILL SUCK BIIIG TIME

I’m so tired of seeing that goody 2 shoes empty smirk on Maggie’s face I can’t stand it. I’d love to kick that pedastal she thinks she’s on right out from under her. April’s camel smoking 2 shots of bourbon a day voice makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up, and she refuses to stop talking and will someone please remove her foot from her mouth? If Ivette says, “you understand what I’m saying” one more time, I’ll throw myself over a bridge. Beau is nothing but a 12 yr old gay princess who has the personality of my hair drying. PLEASE get your crap together Soverigns and start picking these idiots off one by one. Ugh I can’t stand it anymore.

Even more than the contestants, I think the entire format is stale and needs revamping. How about building in rewards for hard work, intelligence and skill instead of slipperyness (James) and bad behavior? The contests are really lame — blindly guessing the number of lightbulbs or hockey pucks get you HOH? Come on!!!

I give the houseguests a lot of slack for their behaviour because they are in such an unusual situation, but Ivette goes too far in her personal attacks. Sadly I can now say I truly hate the b*#^@.

Ivette’s goodbye message to Rachel was shocking. Ironic too since she speaks about “poor sportsmanship”. To punch Rachel while she’s down is the ultimate low. Where did this hostility come from? Is everyone else mystified too? Does it stem from Rachel’s puzzelled facial expressions during Beau’s nomination speech? because I think a LOT of us were confused by his speech, not just Rachel.

I love BB so much, and I look forward to it every summer…however, this summer is fastly becoming quite a nonfavorite for myself. The nerd herd is just as it is called…they are all 2 faced and selfish…they like to talk but they don’t realize what they say is true to themselves and not the ones they are trying to say are bad. Kaysar…poor Kaysar…if only had kept the HOH that week and not thrown it to the other side and screwed it all up..we would all be very very happy watchers and love it everytime another girl scout was kicked out…at first I was hating James…and now I’m routing for him..funny how things work. April, Ivette…just quit already, you suck and America isn’t WITH you..as you all should have learned when we didn’t vote your bestest buddy Cappy…who we also hated along with you guys and if we, America, could vote…your butts would be all long gone by now.

    (1) If you had checked - Neilson does NOT have Big Brother6 in the top ratings. CBS should only dream.

    (2) Ivette is a moron …. what’s she smokin? It really pissed her off when Rachel didn’t get upset (as Ivetter did) when she was nominated. Rachel handled everything with class. Ivette’s ‘goodbye’ speech to Rachel clearly showed Julie, Rachel and America what a moron bitch looks like. lol

the show is doing okay in the ratings cuz the other channels are airing re-runs. But it’s down from last years ratings and, I agree, once Howie and Jannelle are gone, they are sure to lose even more viewers

  17. M. Whipple Says:

It was obvious that BB wanted to keep Janelle. They screwed up the tie breaker answer a couple weeks ago. People get angry with Ivette about her farewell speech to Rachael but forget bone head Howie’s ignorant talk harassing April. I saw dumbo Howie on Blind Date. He was a complete idiot and an ultimate loser. What a waste of humanity. Janelle is a waiteress at an upper class eatery. Eerr.. high priced hooker going broke.

Hey CBM: CBS probably isn’t dreaming because they have 8 of the top 10 shows. Regardless, BB6 is really starting to suck. This season started of great but the nerd herd has ruined it! What a bunch of sissy, boring idiots! As soon as the hurricane and Janelle are gone…so am I. Get real CBS, learn how to spice things up! Could the HOH competitions be any more lame? On the other hand if the HOH competitons required any skill half of those dumbasses would have never been HOH.

I didn’t catch this season until about 3 weeks ago. I was gung ho at first, then reality hit me, which seems absent at BB6.

It deteriated so quickly, that it is disgusting to watch. I will probably watch to the end just to see who wins; but the show itself is no longer something I look forward to watching. The nerd herd, is just to nausiating to watch and listen to and yes, Beau is a princess in his own mind.

What an idiotic move on Howie’s part..he “gave” the power away to the nerd herd but if the animosity continues b/tw the two sides and they continue to vote for the reason of “revenge” then I will continue watching to see James win. LOL

i couldn’t help but laugh when Beau said he was Marcelles x’s 10. Are you kidding me??? I can’t wait until they have to start picking each other off one by one. We’ll see how fake Maggot really is when the time comes. Oh and April can’t think for herself so her head will probably spontaneously combust. How funny is it her hubby sent her stuff to dress like janie. I would have been pissed off! And Maggot, we all know you are probably doing Erik behind his wifes back because its obvious you are pining over him and now the whole world knows it too.

Ivette’s brother is in prison on drug charges. A 14 year old who was running drugs for her scumbag brother turned states evidence. She states on her MySpace that she hopes the boy who destroyed her family is suffering. The woman is clearly delusional. She needs serious psychiatric treatment as soon as she is out of that house. she should also see a plastic surgeon about removing that freakin gigantic chip from her shoulder.

    August 28th, 2005 at 1:30 pm

Did anyone notice James purposely bow out of the HOH this week. And clearly it was an extremely well thought out move. Losing this week and being able to compete next week when he would need it for sure makes a lot of sense. This week if he is nominated he can compete for the veto which let’s call a spade a spade he has a good shot at. If he is not nominated and they try to back door him, he still has a shot as likely Janelle or Howie would choose him to play and then he would wither lose or not use it.Howie and Janeele would be smart to choose ivette and beau for the veto competition as they have the best chance of beating them. James will not be nominated and if he gets back doored ivette will not vote for him leaving him still in the game.

LMAO!! This year is a great year for Big Brother. I work at a CBS affiliate television station, and commercials in the program at our station sell for higher dollars than any of the other programs, except CSI.

Also, you are using total viewers, but the networks are most concerned with viewers 25-54 and 18-49. Trust me, Big Brother is one of the top rated shows in its target demo, and there is no threat of cancellation. In fact, I believe there has been some talk about moving it to a regular season run, much like Survivor did.

  33. MNGal Says:

This cast sucks. It’s one thing to have 1 or 2 people that annoy you, but Maggie, Ivette, Beau, and April annoy the living daylights out of me!! (So did Jennifer, Eric, and Ashlea). Of the four nerds, I think Maggie has PLAYED the best game. But Janelle and Howie should be final 2. James played a good game up until the point where he spilled the big secret (about the Sov6) to the nerd herd. I hope (after James) that IVETTE is the next to go, followed by April. Unfortunately, I don’t think Janie and Howie can win HOH 2 weeks in a row, so I’m sure one or the other will go. But quite honestly, Maggie would be DUMB to take Beau to the finals, just as Beau would be dumb to take Maggie to the finals. If Maggie/Beau took Janie/Howie, they’d have a good chance of winning.

Just think of how much animosity people will have towards the nerd herd when they leave the house. I mean, April told America to f*** themselves…GROW UP!! And they are surprised that America doesn’t vote for them for anything…DUH!

  34. Larry Says:

Personally I love it that April won HOH and POV, even though she or Ivette are not my favorites. GO MAGGIE! Maggie is an ER nurse who helps save peoples’ lives, and has been far less nasty than Janelle. Ivette also was out of line when she trashed Rachael, whom I also liked. I didn’t just pick one team or the other, myself. I also liked Kaysar, AND Howie, til HE lost it and was so hateful two weeks ago.
    GO MAGGIE!

You can already see the division between the nerd herd. The power has gone to April’s head and she doesn’t say anything nice about or too Ivette. If I were Ivette, I would have knocked the bitch out already. Maggot just sits back and giggles at them looking like Damien from the Omen.

Oh my God…I love it when the fans of the janelle and howie group criticize other HG’s for being immature. Talk about ummm, hypocrisy. Howie is the most immature person in the house, as he showed just a couple of weeks ago. Janelle isn’t far behind with her rants against Beau and her lil “Goodbye bitches” outburst. She certainly has acted very immature at times. I’m not saying April doesn’t need to grow up from her comments, but surely you can’t seriously believe that those on the other side are any more mature????????

  39. JanelleBlows Says:

You are so right Rudolph. Howie and Janelle have been two of the most immature House Guests this season. Their actions would make a child squirm with embarassment.

And anyone who says Ivette is a sore loser and not rake Howie over the coals, has zero credibility or just doesn’t watch the show. He was the worst.
