As the credits rolled on the American Idol Top 6 performance show, the
hype master Ryan Seacrest promised “Tomorrow is going to be an
extraordinary night, containing one of the biggest shocks we’ve ever
had on American Idol.” Last week, Seacrest promised “A duet you will
have to see to believe when two of the biggest stars in musical history
come together on our stage.”
So was Ryan Seacrest referring to the duet when he mentioned one of the biggest shocks ever? Or was Secreast referring to something else completely different? As Reality TV Magazine reported last week, the biggest rumor going around about the duet is that Celine Dion will sing with a virtual Elvis Presley.
Ironically, back in January of this year, Reality TV Magazine posed the question of if the return of Elvis could be the mid-season American Idol surprise. We wrote “with all the current media hype, nothing short of the return of Elvis Presley could live up to expectations. While this might seem like an outlandish possibility, nothing should be ruled outside the realm of possibility when it comes to American Idol.”
Of course, at the time we suggested that Elvis Presley could be the surprise, we weren’t seriously expecting it could ever be true. We even joked “Who knows if there really is a surprise planned at this point? Maybe American Idol producers just threw it out there knowing that thousands of reporters would speculate and try to guess what the surprise event is and generate massive pre-launch media exposure for the show. Maybe American Idol producers are reading all the media guesses right now and are planning to pick the best guess and actually make it a reality.”
What if the duet isn’t even the shocker that Ryan Seacrest was referring to? Since the votes hadn’t even been cast at the time that Seacrest made the claim, we know that he isn’t referring to a shocking elimination (even though there might well be one). Could the shocker be that no one will be eliminated this week? Or maybe an error was discovered in last week’s vote count and they’re bringing Sanjaya back? Post your predictions for what one of American Idol’s biggest shocks ever will be in the comment section below.

Maybe the “big shock” is that the show will actually live up to all this hype?

I’m waiting to see the judges get up on the stage and show the contestants they are, in fact, worthy to judge people on their talent. (this means you simon)

simon will sing i’m a little teapot for a 1 million dollar pledge.

The “shock” will be it is finally admitted that Tamyra Gray won Season 1, Kelly Clarkson was runner-up, and Justin Guarini several spots back. It will also be revealed that Clay Aiken won Season 2. No shock to musicians.

Well I hope the biggest shocker is that they’re going to eliminate all three guys tonight to let the real competition begin next week with Melinda, Jordin, and Lakisha.
April 25th, 2007 at 2:52 pm
I think that they are going to have SanJaya sing a duet with Michael Jackson. That is why he was eliminated last week. I really don’t think he was the lowest. Anything can happen on AI.

I believe the biggest shock ever would be that Simon and Paula sing a duet on the show! Ryan DID tempt the pocketbooks out there two weeks ago when he asked Simon if he would sing for charity to raise money for Africa! The question is: did they offer enough $$$$$!
April 25th, 2007 at 6:10 pm
Well Simon said that this week isn’t really about voting for a singer, so I think no one will get eliminated.
April 25th, 2007 at 6:55 pm
The shock will be this. Elvis never died and is coming out of retirement to croak out a duet with his pug-nosed daughter, Lisa.
Dirty Laundry?? We should all hope.
Get ready as chunky Mama Latisha gets the axe. Tears flow!Last shock of this show:
Rosie O’Donnell sings,”I Dont Know How To Love Him”. Millions cheer!
April 25th, 2007 at 7:18 pm
Maybe Rosie will sing “Bad Day”. LOL
April 25th, 2007 at 11:45 pm
lakisha must going home next week!!!! she is so suck, i don’t like her very much! don’t vote for lakisha!
April 26th, 2007 at 12:09 pm
Last night’s result show with no elimination was simply an April Fools’ joke!
