So You Think You Can Dance Top Six Deliver Best Show Ever

August 8, 2007 08:11:40 by Joe Blackmon

Neil_sabra_donutFor the top six So You Think You can Dance performance show, guest
judge Debbie Allen joined regular judges Mary Murphy and Nigel
Lythgoe.  The six remaining dancers performed two couple dances and one
solo dance.  In what will likely go down as the best overall So You
Think You Can Dance performance show ever, the judges were blown away
by several incredible performances.

For their first couples dance, Pasha Kovalev and Lacey Schwimmer danced hip-hop to “In the Morning” by Junior Boys.  Nigel Lythgoe said “I thought it was danced very well, and I think it brought your characters to life.”  Mary Murphy said “I just can’t believe the two of you together how it’s come along.”  Debbie Allen said “Great opening number.”

For their second couples dance, Pasha Kovalev and Lacey Schwimmer danced Ballroom to “A Daisy In December” by Mick McAuley & Winfred Horan.  Nigel Lythgoe said “I thought the rise and fall, the flow of the movement, the lines and everything was absolutely beautiful.”  Mary Murphy said “It was absolutely dreamlike.”  Debbie Allen said “This was like Love Story, and everyone watching wanted to be one of you.”

For their first couples dance, Danny Tidwell and Lauren Gottlieb danced contemporary to “Then You Look At Me” by Celine Dion.  Nigel Lythgoe said “Incredible!  Absolutely incredible!”  Mary Murphy said “It was a really a special treat to be sitting here actually and watch the two of you dance that like you did.”  Debbie Allen said “This was passion and perfection personified.”

For their second couples dance, Danny Tidwell and Lauren Gottlieb danced Disco to “Don’t Leave Me This Way” by The Communards.  Nigel Lythgoe said “Absolutely incredible.”  Mary Murphy said “I thought it was so much fun.”  Debbie Allen said “What a perfect duo, the two of you together.”

For their first couples dance, Neil Haskell and Sabra Johnson danced Jazz to “Sweet Dreams” by the Eurythmics.  Nigel Lythgoe said “I hope the finale comes up to this standard, because the dancing and choreography this week are just incredible.”  Mary Murphy said “You were both equally terrific.”  Debbie Allen said “That’s how I like it.”

For their second couples dance, Neil Haskell and Sabra Johnson danced Paso Doble to “Espana Gani” by Juan & Gennaro.  Nigel Lythgoe said “Wow, that was absolutely stunning.”  Mary Murphy said “I think you guys did tremendous.”  Debbie Allen said “I was so thrilled to see y’all dance this tonight.”

In the solo dances, Sabra Johnson danced to “Rock You Soul” by Elisa.  Pasha Kovalev danced to “Total Eclipse Of The Heart” by Bonnie Tyler.  Laurne Gottlieb danced to “Sorry” by Maria Mena.  Neil Haskell danced to “Out Of My Hands” by the Dave Matthews Band.  Lacey Schwimmer danced to “Le Disco” by Shiny Toy Guns.  Danny Tidwell danced to “The Fear You Won’t Fall” by Joshua Radin.

Who will be the next two dancers to be eliminated from So You Think You Can Dance?  After tonight’s performance show, none of them deserve to go home, so it will likely be a very close vote.  The next two eliminations will be revealed on the next results show, airing on a special day and time: Monday, August 13 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).

I think a girl should win this year and it should be Sabra (1st) or Lacey (2nd). If neither of them, then Danny (3rd) and Neil (4th). As for Lauren and Pasha, they should go home this week… only because of the process of elimination, not because of their dancing.

Results from this Wednesday’s 8/8 show will be Monday night, 8/13. Have to think Pasha will be going, only because Neil finally stepped up and danced like a man. It’s a tough call because all three guys were (and are) fantastic but Pasha’s solo was a bit like a Vegas magic show (I kept picturing Gob from “Arrested Development”) with all that posturing around a mannequin. His partner routines were excellent however. He is fun to watch and so likeable. I can’t figure out if America still can’t stand Danny or not. Have to think that Neil is safe.

For the girls, how can you single out a one to go from this show. AMAZING!! The women have it all this season. I had to give it up for Lacey, who tends to bug me, but IS an amazing performer and dancer. Lauren, who has struggled in the past was RIGHT ON. And finally Sabra, who HONESTLY, does seem to get better every single week. She got my vote Wednesday, and she made Neil a better dancer. I swear that out of these three girls, it’s a toss up. None of them deserve to get booted at this point.

Next week it’s the sprint to the finish (three shows) and it should be FUN!!!

I’m so glad Sabra won. It’s about time a girl won this competition. Sabra really knows how to dance. She puts a lot of heart into her movements. I’m glad Lacey didn’t win. I was scared that she would, considering she had her brother’s voters. Sabra, you rock! Congratulations!

you guys know danny was the best..his problem was that he knew he was the best…even nigel lythgoe said he should have won!!!

lacey didnt stand a chance benji won season 2 so there was no way she could have won…the probability was 0..

i dont think Sabra can dance, she just inspires people that just started dancing….have no clue why she won.

Neil is just there cause hes like an ornament he cant really dance..hes so stiff all he can do is jumps, turns and flips.

    Yeh,im done now!!
