With all the city specific episodes of the American Idol auditions complete, it’s time for the best and the worst from all the audition cities. First up were a couple of the worst. Twenty-six year old Luke Reeder and eighteen year old Victor Villegas were quickly rejected by the judges.
Next up was Amy Davis, who grew up watching her single parent mom work two jobs in order to provide for six kids. Amy Davis sang “Blue Bayou.” All three judges agreed to put Amy through to Hollywood.
Twenty-one year old Tiffany McCambell claimed that she got her voice from God. After her off-pitch audition, Simon Cowell asked if he had a returns policy. Twins Cory & Chris Lane from Kernersville, North Carolina did a rap about the Brittenum twins. However, unlike the Brittenum twins, these twins couldn’t sing. Simon Cowell called the audition, “very amateurish.”
Nineteen year old Ashley Lawing gave her dog to the judges. When Simon threatened to steal the dog, Ashley said that if he put her through to Hollywood that he could have whatever he wanted. However, Simon called her audition, “excruciating.” Ashley didn’t make it to Hollywood.
Next up was twenty year old Cardin Lee McKinney. Simon Cowell said that she came over as a very theatrical singer, but he did not think she was a contemporary recording artist. However, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul disagreed and put Cardin through to the next round.
After a recap of some previous auditions, plus-sized model Joanne Borgella sang. Paula Abdul called Joanne, “stunning.” Even though Simon Cowell said no, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul put Joanne through to Hollywood.
After eighteen year old Alesha Stelzl sang, Simon Cowell called it an “absolutely dreadful audition.” After Randy Jackson told Alesha that she should have sung a Dolly Parton song, Simon Cowell told Alesha to go learn a Dolly Parton song and come back. For her second audition, Alesha sang “Islands In The Stream.” Simon Cowell deferred to Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul, who put Alesha through to Hollywood.
Two more of the worst auditions were shown. Twenty-seven year old Brandi Gregorie and seventeen year old Charles Randy Leviner made a brief appearance in front of the judges.
Twenty-five year old Joshua Moreland sang “Beautiful Lady.” During his audition, Joshua threw rose petals, sparkles and glitter into the air. Simon Cowell said it was a “horribly over the top, corny, revolting audition.” Cowell tried to get Ryan Seacrest to clean up the mess made by Joshua. But after Seacrest claimed he didn’t want to take the job away from the female Idol production assistant doing it, Cowell accused Seacrest of being patronizing. Cowell jumped in and helped clean up the mess for the cameras.
After a segment on Simon Cowell mispronouncing contestants’ names, twenty-two year old Chikezie Eze auditioned. Even though Chikezie had auditioned last year and not made it, the judges put him through to Hollywood this year.
Another previous contestant getting a second chance was seventeen year old Danny Noriega. Danny sang “Proud Mary,” and all three judges agreed on putting Danny through to Hollywood.
Next week on American Idol, the Hollywood round of the auditionsis featured.
