American Idol Results: Top Twelve Revealed

On the American Idol top sixteen results show, Ryan Seacrest opened the show in front of twelve empty chairs intended for the top twelve finalists. American Idol 6 runner-up Blake Lewis performed “How Many Words.” Seacrest revealed that over 36 million votes had been cast for the top sixteen semifinalists this week.

After a recap of the American Idol top eight guys performance show, Seacrest told David Cook to stand up and revealed that he was in the top twelve. Next, Seacrest asked David Archuleta to stand up and congratulated him on also making the top twelve. Finally, Seacrest asked Jason Castro to stand up and revealed that he was the third member of the top twelve.

After a recap of the American Idol top eight girls performance show, Seacrest told Brooke White to stand up and revealed that she was in the top twelve. Next, Seacrest asked Syesha Mercado to stand up and told her that she also made the top twelve. Finally, Seacrest asked Kady Malloy to stand up, but he told her that tonight was the end of the line for her. Kady gave a farewell performance of “Who Wants To Live Forever.”

Ryan Seacret returned to the male semifinalists. Seacrest asked David Hernandez to stand up and revealed he was in the top twelve. Next, Seacrest asked Michael Johns to stand up and congratulated him on also making the top twelve. Finally, Seacrest asked Luke Menard to stand up and revealed that he would be leaving tonight. Luke gave a farewell performance of “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.”

Ryan Seacrest returned to the female semifinalists. Seacrest asked Ramiele Malubay to stand up and revealed that she was in the top twelve. Next, Seacrest asked Carly Smithson to stand up and congratulated her on also making the top twelve. Finally, Seacrest asked Amanda Overmyer to stand up and revealed that she was in the top twelve.

Ryan Seacrest called Kristy Lee Cook and Asia’h Epperson to center stage. Seacrest announced, “It’s a very emotional night, lots of votes. America has decided that Asia’h, you are going home tonight. Kristy Lee Cook has made it into the top twelve.” Asia’h Epperson gave a farewell performance of “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.”

Ryan Seacrest called Danny Noriega and Chikezie to center stage. Seacrest announced, “America voted. Chikezie take a seat, you’re in the top twelve. Chikezie congratulations, which means Danny leaves us tonight.” Danny Noriega gave a farewell performance of “Tainted Love.”
