Exclusive Interview with Work Out’s Brian Peeler!

If Work Out trainer Brian Peeler were to describe the past year in two words, they would probably be “emotional rollercoaster.” Since the season finale of Work Out season 2 last May, Peeler has been through it all: marriage, divorce, getting fired, the death of his best friend, and a hit and run that left him with a dislocated shoulder.

“I’ve gone through a ton of drama this year,” Peeler tells Reality TV Magazine in an exclusive interview. “An emotional rollercoaster my life has been,”

Still reeling from the death of his best friend, Doug Blasdell, Peeler was faced with a divorce.

“I went off the deep end during the divorce,” he says. “I turned to the bottle,I wasn’t eating. I lost 27 pounds inthree weeks,Some people turn to food; I was not hungry. I couldn’t sleep so I wanted to drink away my sorrows. It took me a month to come out of that.”

Peeler then became a victim of a hit-and-run motorcycle accident that left him injured. According to Peeler, he was knocked off his motorcycle and was thrown under a truck, where he got caught on the rear axle. The truck’s spare tire hit his right shoulder, dislocating it. “Luckily I had a lot of protective gear on or I would’ve probably been dead,” says Peeler, who has been rehabilitating his shoulder himself and believes it to be at “94%” at this point.

Still, Peeler says it “feels good” to be back on TV, and back to training clients. “I’m loving being back,” he says. “There’s not a monetary value that you could put on the feeling that you get when you show someone that they can do something that they never thought was possible,[Trainers] don’t make a ton of money. But there’s nothing that can make you feel that good.”

Peeler’s pretty tight-lipped about what to expect in this season’s Work Out, except to promise plenty of drama, especially in the second half of the season. Another thing he’s tight-lipped about is his plans for a new reality TV show of his own. “Think Extreme Makeover, fitness version,” he hints.

But when it comes to picking yourself up by your bootstraps, Peeler’s definitely talking. “You get knocked down the well, you swing around and take a gulp,” he advises, “because there’s good water down there.”
