Big Brother 9: Joshuah Evicted, Adam Wins HOH!

Day 56 had arrived in the Big Brother house in the form of eviction night. After James used the Power Of Veto to pull himself off of the chopping block, the current Head Of Household (Natalie) was forced to replace him with another player. Sharon was that person.

Sharon said she felt confident that she would have the votes to keep her in the house against Joshuah. But little did she know that her friend and ally in the house had quickly started campaigning against her. He made a deal with Natalie that if he could get two votes against Sharon, which would have brought on a tie, that she would break it in his favor.

Joshuah knew he had a vote from James and only needed one more. In his efforts to get more support, he faked a situation hoping to convince Adam that he was weak and should be the one to stay. His plan was to make it seem like he couldn’t handle being on slop any longer, crying over a plate of pizza. That is where it started, but then he took it to a tight hug with Adam filled with tears saying he wasn’t ready to leave the game. Adam bought the rather convincing emotion hook, line and sinker.

On the other end of the deal, Natalie was starting to become concerned with trusting Joshuah. She was afraid that even if she kept him safe that he would go back on his word with her and knock her out of the house as soon as he had the chance. So to try and stop a tie from happening, she went and told Sharon that Joshuah was campaigning against her. Then Sheila was told about the strategies and was shocked to hear what Joshuah was doing. From that moment, the three remaining girls agreed to stick together. She just had to convince Ryan and Adam that Joshuah needed to be the one evicted.

Ryan expressed his worries about Sharon’s trustworthiness. But soon after, both Adam and Ryan agreed that the best thing to do is blindside Joshuah.

The live vote had arrived and after each nominee argued why they should stay, the four eligible to vote entered the Diary Room one at a time. The first three votes (Sheila, Ryan and Adam) were to evict Joshuah. The only vote against Sharon came from James. After host Julie Chen revealed the vote, Joshuah stood up and gave a farewell speech telling them that they could all go far in the game if they were simply true to themselves.

Then the HOH competition took place as five players battled for the power. They were asked a series of questions about quantities of items in the house from two-way mirrors to the number of tree trunks in the Diary Room. The player with the most correct at the end would win the power for the week. Sharon had a lead for most of the competition until it came down to a three-way tie between herself, Adam and James. After the final question, Adam took the title of HOH for the second time.
