Dancing with the Stars: Will Shannon’s Show Go on Without Derek?

Shannon-Derek-Courtesy-KelseyMcNeal-ABCDancing with the Stars’ Derek Hough gets the tough-guy award for sticking it out on stage till the bitter end on Tuesday night’s performance show. No, not because he was worried about getting eliminated with his partner, Shannon Elizabeth…Because he wasn’t wearing his neck brace.

In Tuesday night’s rehearsal, just before the show’s taping, Hough suffered a neck injury that landed him on a gurney, rushing to the hospital.

The injury, which happened during a dance move that required Hough to whip his head back, was described by him as a “snap, crackle, pop…like a box of cereal.” X-rays revealed, however, that the injury is muscular. That’s the good news. The bad? He’s got to wear a neck brace at all times.

So what does this mean for Elizabeth this week? Nobody knows for sure just yet. Hough may have to sit on the sidelines while another pro dances with Elizabeth.

Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays at 8:00 PM (ET) on ABC, and Tuesdays at 9:00 PM (ET) on ABC !!
