If that’s what you think Clay’s fanbase likes and wants, you don’t have a clue.
The vast majority of the fans on the boards I frequent have been begging for something uptempo and danceable. We love getting on our feet and dancing at concerts!
I am not listening to the snippets, but from the comments I have heard, half the songs are definitely mid to uptempo, and a couple even border on edgy! Ashes, Everything I Don’t Need, Where I Draw The Line.
Clay may not be what is currently dominating Top40 radio, but neither is he limited to the “ballad boy” track.
You think you have us and Clay pegged, but I heartily disagree. Your compliments aside(which, really, who can say he doesn’t have a great voice or do ballads well?), this review sounds like someone who has Clay stuck in a box b/c they need to define him and his music.

I will have to say, you are right about Lover All Alone. It tops my list of All-Time Perfect Songs(and the only song of Clay’s on my list.) It’s even more amazing, b/c it’s his first solo effort at writing lyrics.

Thanks for a fair and honest review of Clay’s upcoming album, which his fans are more than ready to hear in its entirety!!
I agree that Clay definitely had something to say in this CD - and I can’t wait to hear what it is!

I think this review was fair and positive. But I would like to ask if you actually listened to the entire album or the snippets that are at this point only available?
From what I have heard, yes his voice sounds amazing and the songs are defintely chosen from his heart.
I truly hope this effort will get the attention to a man and a voice that is truly rare in the world of music. You go Clay…we are with you!

While I agree with some parts of this review (Aiken’s talent and rich voice cannot be denied) I find it odd that someone who’s never written a music review (according to the bio) has somehow gotten a chance to listen to this entire CD even though it won’t be released for another two weeks. Or…wait..maybe it was just the “ring-tone” snippets from Slovenia that were listened to? (LOL)
Maxxim Magazine was recently sued by the Black Crowes for doing just that, ie. writing a review without actually listening to the CD. Maxxim called it an “educated guess.” I find it really sad that “reviewers” resort to such tactics, and even more so when they’re simply trying to shove an artist into a pre-conceived box.
So, by those standards, I also have listened to the snippets and therefore feel I can also write my own “review”:
I found around half of the snippets to be on the melodically beautiful, richly harmonious, “ballad” side of the musical spectrum, and half to be surprisingly upbeat. All are musically interesting, from the uptempo bluesy feel of Kipper’s original Everything I don’t Need, to the surprising key changes in Falling, to Weight of the World, to the rocking Ashes. I think we “younger crowds” might surprise you with what we like. The fact that the words of the songs reflect a journey and are sung from the heart just make it that much more special.
Oh, and needless to say, Lover All Alone is just in a class by itself.
Again, I appreciate the review, but will appreciate even more reviews that are done after one has listened to the entire CD.

JMO. I really don’t agree with some of this review. There are some little digs in there (read between the lines) I can take it or leave it. I don’t think the reviewer gave Clay the review that he deserves.

Listening to the snippets, this Album by far is the best album that I have heard in a very long time,It is inspiring, uplifting that it awakens the human spirit and touch the soul, with Clay’s voice that flows like silk, smooth and soft to the ear mellow yet edgy, upbeat yet easy in the ears,It makes you feel alive
Can’t wait to get the CD
It is about time we as a whole listen to this kind of music. It is good for the Earth- Our home for now

Note to readers:
I was very fortunate to have gotten the opportunity to listen to the entire CD; this review is not based on snippets. I very much enjoy the CD and have listened to it many times over. Thanks for your feedback!

Thanks, Jennifer, for letting us know that you heard the entire CD.
