Dancing with the Stars: The Stars Learn from Past Champs!

On tonight’s special 100th episode of Dancing with the Stars, much attention was turned to seasons past and the dancers on those seasons who inspired us all. But which past Dancing with the Stars celebrities most inspire the current Dancing stars?

For Kristi, all she needs to know about showmanship can be learned from watching Joey Fatone. Being touted as the master of showmanship, Fatone always mesmerized audiences with his flamboyant style and contagious energy. The judges have been after Kristi this season about getting into character while performing, and Kristi believes that if she could channel Joey’s “flashy personality,” she’d have it made.

Marissa is struck by Mel B’s fierceness while on the stage. Mel B’s energy and dominance over the stage propelled her far in the competition (and was cited as the reason she landed the #2 spot on the judges’ Top Ten Favorite Routines list). Marissa admires Mel B’s precision and confidence and hopes she can capture some of it for herself.

Jason, of course, looks to another athlete for his inspiration. “Emmitt Smith made it cool to dance,” he says, adding that Emmitt was always smooth and always had style (hey, he had funk, too!). Jason wants to get himself a little of that style that took Emmitt so far in the competition.

Cristian likes Helio for his Latin connection, but also because Helio was always full of surprises on stage. But, Cristian admits, “I still have a lot of work to do.”

Watch the Dancing with the Stars semi-finals Monday, May 12th, to see if the stars capture those traits they so admire.
