Project Runway And The Rainy Night Challenge

Project Runway started with a quick recap of last week’s episode as we saw Heidi tell Suede that he was a winner with the model cocktail dress challenge and that Wesley was to gather his dress-making kit and get out. The designers were commiserating about the “Auffing” of Wesley and that, hopefully, the next challenge would be something they could run with. Kelly was especially vocal which means she might be in trouble tonight, but we will see. Another exciting week on Project Runway springs before us.

Heidi greeted the beleaguered designers as they already looked like they were tired. Heidi brought out the models for their “Auffing,” at least one of them, and Suede, who talks in the third person constantly, said that Suede loved his model and that Suede was keeping her, sending the losing model home. Heidi then announced that Tim was taking the group out for a night on the town, which meant a challenge midst all of the fun and frivolity.

Tim came in and gathered the group and took them somewhere all dressed in rain boots and ponchos, which was the furthest thing from a fashion statement of any kind. Tim put the designers in a tour bus of some kind and announced that it was the destination of their next challenge. The challenge was a great one for the designers as they were to design a look inspired by New York at night.

Suede talking in the third person

Tim dropped off a group of designers at each of four stops, starting with Suede, Daniel, Leanne and Jennifer at Columbus Circle. Stop two had Blayne, Keith, Stella and Kenley getting off at Times Square. Stop three was Korto, Kelli and Joe at the New York Public Library and stop four had Terri, Emily and Jerell getting off at Greenwich Village.

After the pics were taken by the designers at their designated spots they headed off to sleep at the Atlas building for what would be the final bit of sleep they will probably get in a while. Tim gathered them all back at Parsons the next day and gave them the instructions and told them that they had half-an-hour to pick a photo and then he would take them shopping to prep for the challenge.

As the designers worked, Tim announced that they had until one AM the first evening, err, morning and Suede was once again talking in the third person at us. Stella was once again being belligerent with her Roc ‘n Roll style and Blayne was creeping everyone out with his weird eyes and talking in a weird voice. Keith was for the first time since the beginning of the show starting to tell everyone how wonderful he was as were his designs. Kendal thought Emily was in trouble and Stella was telling everyone how into “Letheah” she was. Just another fun day in Project Runway.

With two hours let to go in the day, Tim Gunn was in to check on the progress of the designers. Jennifer was first up and Tim was concerned about her design. Tim was concerned about Keith’s lack of completeness with his design and found Kenley’s dress beautiful but thought the dress a bit costume. Terri was confident with her design and did not seem to care what Tim said and Leanne was concerned with the amount of work she had to do. Emily’s dress was savaged by Tim, well, as much as Tim could savage any design because he is so nice, and told the designers that they had until one o’clock and the designers taught Tim to say “Holla at cha boy” to try to replace “Make it work,” which will never happen.

The one o’clock deadline passed and many of the designers were concerned as to the unfinished designs that they had in front of them. Tim came in to announce the models were headed in. Keith’s model dropped out, like it mattered as most of the models were similar, but Keith was challenged to make it work. Tim came in for the ten minute call to go to the Runway and seemed hacked off that no one was listening to him as most of the designers were scurrying to finish their designs.

Heidi glammed her way to the Runway and reiterated the challenge that the designers were faced with and introduced, once again, judges Michael Kors, Nina Garcia and guest judge, actress, Sandra Bernhard along with Heidi. The designers models came out with Keith’s design in the lead followed by, Blayne, Joe, Emily, Leanne, Jennifer, Jerell, Kelli, Daniel, Kenley, Suede, who did not use the third person to explain his design for once, Stella, Korto and, finally, Terri. Heidi then had all of the designers lined up and said that after the scoring of the designs, that Keith, Kenley, Emily, Terri, Jennifer and Leanne were to step forward and that the designers who had not had their named called were safe and could leave the runway.

Heidi then had the designers explain their designs and the judges seemed to love the designs from Kenley, Terri, Leanne and not-so-much love to designers, Keith, Emily and Jennifer. Kenley said that her design was inspired by a tile wall; Keith was inspired by an old magazine; Terri was inspired by graffiti; Emily inspired by a long-exposure picture of colors; Leanne was inspired by a sewage grate.

challenge winner kenley

After the judges confab, the designers were called out for the execution from Ms. Klum and Heidi said that Terri was “Een” and that the winner was Kenley, which garnered her immunity for the next challenge. Leanne was declared safe as was Keith leaving Jennifer and Emily to sweat it out. After the PR big build up music pled, Jennifer was announced safe, leaving Emily “Auwt” and after given the kiss of death from Heidi, she was sent off to clean her table and the break-room and everywhere else Tim though was a mess,no, not really, but she was sent packing, none the less.

bye bye emily

Catch us next week for another thrilling challenge and at least we know Kenley will not go home.
