The Apprentice UK With Sir Alan Sugar Premieres On CNBC

Even though the American version of The Apprentice starring Donald Trump won’t be back until early 2009, viewers in need of an immediate Apprentice fix are in luck. CNBC will air The Apprentice UK starting on Monday, August 25.

Instead of Donald Trump, the UK version of The Apprentice stars self-made multi-millionaire Sir Alan Sugar. CNBC will be airing the first season of The Apprentice UK, which features fourteen candidates competing for a six figure job with Sir Alan Sugar.

Among the candidates are a property developer, investment banker, headhunter, sales executive, charity fundraiser, hotel manager, communications manager and a student. Just like in the American version, the candidates live together and work in teams. Also, just like the American version, every week someone is fired. Sir Alan Sugar consults with his trusted aids, Margaret Mountford and Nick Hewer, before making his decision on who to send packing.

Of course the ultimate decision is up to Sir Alan Sugar, as he tells the candidates, “I’m the one who’s going to decide who gets fired. I and only I am the one who’s going to fire you people one by one, every week until I’ve got my apprentice. So you can forget about flicking your hair back and flashing your eyes and having a handsome attack, ‘cos it ain’t going to make any difference. All right? And here’s a bit of a warning. Never, ever underestimate me, because you will be making a fatal error.”
