The Launch Of The New York Reality TV School Is A Success

Have you ever wanted to be on Reality TV, but didn’t know how or what it takes to get noticed? With Reality TV taking over television networks you can only imagine how many people each week are auditioning for that golden ticket and the competition is fierce. Even if you manage to be called in for an interview, will you be ready to handle the pressure of this once in a lifetime opportunity?

Well, now you don’t have to go it alone. The New York Reality TV School is up and running and by the number of students attending, it must be a success. The school was founded by 43-year-old acting coach Robert Galinsky and prepares actors and non-actors alike on best practices to be chosen for (and to have the best shot to win on) Reality TV shows.

Students train with Galinsky as well as Reality TV stars such as Jorge Bendersky, finalist on “Groomer Has it,” and Dave Martin of “Top Chef”as well aspremiere Reality TV casting director , Robert Russell, (Survivor, Rock Star INXS, The Bachelor, Big Brother, Joe Millionaire, Search for the Next Pussycat Doll, and Moment of Truth).

The one-night $139 seminars teach the students all about “being real” and doesn’t teach students to be actors, but teaches them how NOT to act.

“I’m coaching them to be themselves, to be clear about what makes them unique, what makes them potentially interesting in the context that they are going to be in on a show,” Galinsky told ABC.

He also teaches endurance and strategy. One of the exercises his students do is called “the perp walk.” The students file past one another while lobbing hateful insults, followed by praise and applause.

“We make them walk through that line to build up some emotional immunity to what’s going on because it’s very much like on a reality show,” explained Galinsky.

Since emotional people with a flair for the dramatic tend to be cast on reality shows, the class teaches students how to “be themselves.”

“To be comfortable with yourself in your most crazy form, is definitely a part of it, definitely a part of it,” Galinsky also said.

Other techniques the school has in its curriculum are; “The Do’s and Don’ts of Auditioning for Reality TV,” “On The Grill With Phil” which is an intense round robin of reality casting calls and “Press conference” which is a lecture and question and answer seminar with Reality TV guests and the media.
