Extreme Makeover Home Edition Helps A Ten Year Old Leukemia Survivor

On this week’s episode of Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Ty Pennington and his team pay a visit to the McCully family in Bigelow, Arkansas. In the McCully family, there is a ten year old boy named Job, who has become an inspiration to many. Job has survived leukemia and has undergone a bone marrow and double lung transplant.

Job has been in and out of hospitals for years, and he still has some health issues. Job got the ok to leave the hospital in March of 2008, but the McCully family has been unable to bring him home. The McCully family home is sinking, moldy and dilapidated. The home’s roof leaks, and the home’s walls are infested with mildew.

In 2006, fungus was discovered on Job’s lungs, and the fungus was suspected to have come from the mildew in the home. The family has not been able to live in the home out of fear that it could create additional health problems for Job.

Job has suffered through many painful side effects from his treatment, but the generosity and positive attitude he displays is inspirational. The whole McCully family displays an attitude of always being willing to help others in need. Job’s twelve year old sister Nicole gives him diabetes shots. Job’s father Rob is a church deacon, and Job’s mother Tina helps struggling young married companies and addicts through their church.

Since the family can’t live in their home, they have temporarily taken up residence in a donated rental. However, they are still having to pay their mortgage on their house. Ty Pennington, his designers, local builder Woodhaven Homes, and hundreds of volunteers will work to rebuild the McCully family home and to make it safe for Job to liver there. The design team consists of Paul DiMeo, Paige Hemmis, Eduardo Xol and Tracy Hutson.

Extreme Makeover Home Edition airs on Sunday, October 26 from 8 PM to 9 PM ET on ABC.
