Jennifer Hudson Confirms The Child Found Is Her Nephew

Chicago police say that Jennifer Hudson has identified the body of her 7 year old nephew, who was found this morning in the missing vehicle from her family’s home. The singer and actress was among seven family members and close friends who cried and held hands as they identified Julian King’s body from a live image on a television screen at the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office Monday afternoon.

Chicago police spokeswoman Monique Bond said the boy, like his grandmother and uncle, had been shot. The medical examiner’s office planned a Tuesday autopsy.

Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis said a motive remained unclear Monday but added, “It wasn’t a case of a stranger-type homicide.”

The slayings are being charactierized as ‘domestic related’ and currently Julian’s step-father, William Balfour is in custody and being questioned for the three murders. He had been estranged from the family.

Julian’s body was found this morning about 10 miles from the house in the SUV, which matched the description of the one in the Amber Alert. Julian had been the subject of a frantic search since the killings of his grandmother and uncle on Friday.

Jennifer Hudson canceled a planned video shoot for her new single “If It Isn’t Love,” which was to take place starting Monday in Los Angeles. Instead, the singer has remained in Chicago since identifying the bodies of her mother and brother. She had offered $100,000 on Sunday for information leading to the safe return of Julian, the son of Julia Hudson.

Immediately following the news of the body’s discovery, Hudson’s family members organized a church vigil.
