American Idol Bully Rejected Josiah Leming With Legal Action

American Idol didn’t want him, but apparently they don’t want anyone else to have him either. Josiah Leming, the kid who lived in his car and his mother has terminal cancer,has just recorded his first album despite all of the obstacles in his life. His life story was chronicled on American Idol and even Ellen took the kid under her wing after he didn’t make it to the top 24.

Now Leming has hit another road block and according to The New York Post, Simon Fuller’s 19 Entertainment, the force behind Idol, is threatening to block the release of Leming’s debut disc, due in January, citing violation of terms of agreement. Apparently all Idol contestants, regardless of how far they go in the show, sign a contract saying if they were to record an album, they will only record on the Sony/BMG label.

“Josiah was the only Idol contestant ever to get a record deal who didn’t make the top 24, and one of only four contestants to get a deal this year,” a rep for the 19-year-old said. “He has personal reasons for getting his music out, threat or not.” Leming is determined to get his album on shelves “while [his mother] is alive to share it.”

The rep said that Idol producers have yet to repsond to Leming’s lawyers.

I think that it would be inAmerican Idol’sbest interest to let this kid go and release his album or they may find themselves under huge viewer fire. No wonder we never hear from many of the contestants later on…especially the good ones. They don’t stand a chance if there is only one label that they can record under.

It will be interesting to see if Ellen once again steps in and has something to say about this unfortunate situation on hershow. Check out theYou Tube video belowof Josiah’s visit on Ellen afer being rejected.

   Y’know, the kid’s got a great voice… however, I don’t think he would’ve won the competition. People who enter the competition with very unique voices or an interesting tone never make it to the finals. Like, take Paris Bennett from Season 5. She was an amazing vocalist, but he vocals didn’t cater too well to some of the themed song choice challenges.
