American Idol: Jordin Sparks Leaves 19 Management Record Label

The AmericanIdolfinalists are on the move! Kristy Lee Cook and Blake Lewis made record label moves and now season six American Idol champion, Jordin Sparks is doing it to. “Jordin and 19 Management are parting ways,” Jordin Sparks’ mom Jodi wrote this month on her daughter’s MySpace blog. “It is a mutual decision and we are looking forward to the future!”
Jordin Sparks has only been with 19 Records/Jive records since May of 2007 and only released one record with the label.
Her self-titled debut album hit the charts at Number 10 on The Billboard 200. Her album initally sold a mere 119,000 copies during its initial week of release last November and represented the lowest first-week debut album sales of any former Idol winner, but is has now sold over 960,000 copies which puts it ahead of the debut album sales of fifth-season AmericanIdol winner Taylor Hicks.
Jordin Sparks’ mother wrote on the blog that Jordin is working on her second album. “Jordin (is) writing and recording starting in January,” wrote Jodi on the MySpace blog. “Hopefully new album out by summer. Expect more upbeat dance tunes!”
Jordin Sparks is the third American Idol contestant to move labels in the past month. Kristy Lee Cook left Arista Nashville after releasing her first album with the label in September and only being with themsince June and Blake Lewis who was dropped by Arista Records has a new manager and a new record deal in the works.
